OK Vegetarian Experience 4/3/2008

To set the stage, my wife is mostly vegan and I am not. I stray on the side of whole foods and eat a lot less meat because of her. \r \r The location seems very difficult to get to. You need to go inside the military base to get there ... it is not very visible.\r \r The atmosphere needs some help. There are large windows facing the bay and has a really good view of the bridge, but the interior is stale. There are some cool wood tables that are sculptured as tables and seating, but they are about the only thing that adds any uniquenesses to the area -- the rest is standard fare.\r \r The service was OK ... we waited for periods where I was wondering why we were waiting. Our seating was very early in the night so I guess they were just ramping up, but still it was not at all informative or very hospitable.\r \r We had a sampler which was good. There were a couple of things that did not go together - especially a chutney in the center that didn't seem to go with the sampler even though it was good. I can't say I recommend it.\r \r My wife had the enchiladas which was a departure for her. She was very excited to go to this restaurant and I could tell she was not happy. We switched meals about 3/4 of the way in because I could see her disappointment and I wanted her to try something else. So, I can tell you my experience with what she got -- it was awful. It reminded me of a Lean Cuisine meal -- bad, tasteless and lifeless.\r \r I had the Mushroom and Leek Filo dinner and it was pretty good. If I remember correctly it was surrounded by Italian butter beans which were a fond reminder of my southern heritage. It was good, but a little lacking in flavor. I gave the rest to my wife to make up for her enchiladas, but I don't think it made up for it.\r Pros: Good Idea Cons: Over priced for the taste more
