The friend who met me at the airport when I arrived at SEATAC last month was a retired senior pilot with one of the major airlines out of Seattle. Therefore, he knew all the eating places in the area. It was suppertime, and he didn't hesitate to recommend his favorite spot, Dave's Diner. Off we went! When I looked at the menu, I saw the item that I had ordered every time I joined my father for lunch in my youth. It was veal cutlet with white gravy, and I hadn't seen it on a menu for many years. Despite all the other tempting choices, I ordered the cutlet and was quite happy that I had. It was, like the diner itself, something memorable from the past. I'm to fly from my Alaska home to Seattle again this month ? this time with my wife. You can bet that we've already made plans to eat at Dave's Diner! Maybe I'll order something new or simply take that same dish full of happy memories ? the veal cutlet. Oh, I had cream pie for dessert the last (and only) time, too, and it was very good. Another reviewer says that they serve malts. I hadn't even thought of that, but you can be sure that I will do so this time. I'm supposed to be on a diet, but shhhh! Dave's Diner, here I come, ready to loosen my belt and chow down old-timey style!
