I gave up meat for lent and with two weeks left to go I don't miss it at all. I have lived on Long John Silver's fish fillets. I am also trying to lose weight so when I have had a successful day dieting, I reward myself with one fish fillet at LJS. I have been going exclusively to LJS on Walzem, with a couple of exceptions to FM 78. Today I was at church and I avoided all the pastries and doughnuts they had to offer so I stopped at the LJS near there (Perrin-Beitel) to reward myself. The cashier was nice but inexperienced. I ordered a kids meal (with a coupon) for my son and a fish fillet for myself. The cashier called the manager to ring up the order because of the coupon and when he told me my total it was a dollar over. He said the Goldfish instead of fries was 99 cents. I said no and he called the manager back to ask her what she had done. She corrected it. When I got my kids meal, it had a piece of chicken, and a hushpuppy (fine so far) but no crumbs and the ad had shown a granola bar with the Goldfish making a nice meal. There was no granola bar. OKAY, I stated all that just as fact, here is the real issue. My piece of fish, my treat for a job well done avoiding the sweets. The fish fillet was cold and hard. Worse than that, it appeared that the original fillet had been sliced in half through it's thickness before battering and frying. I have eaten at least 20 fish fillets at LJS in the last month and I promise this fillet had been tampered with. It's crazy to think but its the only answer I can find for the miniscule sliver of fish I got wedged between two outer coatings of batter at least twice the thickness of that poor little fish. I feel sorry for anyone who believes that this restaurant represents what LJS food is like. They should shut it down before they allow it to continue ruining their good name. Pros: None. Go to another LJS location Cons: The food was old and not prepared properly more
