inconsistent resto - toss up of great to lousy

this was my second visit to canlis. the first time, the food, service and pretty much everything was wonderful. this time, i invited a much larger party to join me. the service was EXCESSIVELY SLOW. so slow, that the food came 2 hours after we ordered. and, the food was cold. not exactly what someone hopes for when ordering 72$ australian lobster and 20$ foie gras. plus, they offered us desserts as compensation for slow service even though we kept declining yet they still charged us for coffee (which we did want). kind of a shame. i was really starting to like this place. perhaps the take away message was, don't expect much at christmas time from canlis, especially if there are larger parties around.

Cons: long reservation wait time, high prices, cold food
