I hired a maid to clean the apartment, and was denied security refund because they claimed the apartment was ""filthy."" When explaining that a maid was hired and that it was more that ""broom cleaned"" the management was rude and unwilling to listen. If you are planning on moving, upon moving out be sure that you have the Austin Apartment Associations number on hand. Luckily I had taken move out pictures, and when the 30 days are up, as a matter of law, I will receive 3x's my deposit! I am a neat freak, and although you only need to leave an apartment ""broom clean"" I made sure it was spotless. And while the employeess were friendly while I lived there, once I moved out, their ages (20-25) showed. The girls were immature, rude, unprofessional, and unreasonable. Bottom line ~ I will get the deposit back, but not because I am right, but because I used the law to force the issue.
