When there are better vegetarian South Indian choices, why bother with this place? 10/16/2008

The problem with Dosa Corner isn?t really the food. The food is a mixed bag, ranging from pretty good to pretty bad, neither fantasic nor abysmal. The dosas themselves are good, but the filling was made from cheap frozen vegetables. The saag paneer was watery from improperly drained frozen spinach. The problem is the deeply unfriendly, unhelpful service, and that?s the reason we?ll never bother going back there. After trying twice to call and place an order over the phone (no one picked up), we drove to Dosa Corner. It was open and someone was standing right next to the phone. As the dining room was empty, it was not as though he?d been too busy to answer the phone. We?d already decided on our order, but he promptly told us we couldn?t order the combination plates for take out because it was just ?too much food?. While we pondered our a la carte choices, we each took a chip from the bowl sitting on the counter, and they seemed to be fried samosa shells dusted with a lovely seasoned salt mix. After my boyfriend went back for a second chip, the man at the counter took the bowl and placed it out of reach. We were beginning to get irritated, but we were pretty hungry and didn?t want to drive to a different restaurant, so we placed our order and waited. When the food came out, I repeated our order to the man to help him tally the total, and he nodded at all of my items. Because of this, I foolishly presumed the order was correct. I paid the total and drove home, a fifteen minute drive, only to find that my item was missing entirely, but rather than spend the gas money, time, and irritation on a return trip, I just vowed to write this review and never return to Dosa Corner. I?d much rather give my business to the wonderful, welcoming, and incredibly delicious Banana Leaf. Pros: Vegetarian Cons: Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude service; food isn't worth what they're asking for it more
