Engagement Party Fiasco 9/10/2007

We recently ordered a cake for our engagement party (Thank God it wasn't our wedding). My mother first stopped in to order the cake herself and she stood there waiting for help while the waitresses and staff members were too busy to assist her. They would start waiting on her then leave her to go do something else, then another person would come over and she'd need to start all over again. So she left very upset and fustrated- with no cake ordered. I went back with her the next day to try yet again. Finally a lady with blonde hair and an english accent(I believe) was helpful and we got a sample of the cake and order their Mocha Gateaux- which is french vanilla cake with a layer of chocolate filling and a layer of raspberry filling topped with coffee icing. Sounds very good, tasted good at the tasting- but once the cake was cut we discover it was just chocolate -no raspberry which was a huge selling point for us. So we called the next day to bring this to the attention of the manager and she was incredibly rude saying that we were told that we would only get one layer (she wasn't even there that day to know what we were told) Actually two of her employees assured us that there would be both fillings included! She says she'll give us $20.00 back and a gift certificate (which I don't want). Overall it was a terrible experience for an average cake. I definately won't be ordering my wedding cake from Zakes and I won't be visiting for lunch anytime soon. Don't waste your time or money or risk your big day here. more
