Worst hotel I've ever stayed at! 9/16/2007

While the location of this hotel was good, that was the only good thing about it. We stayed at this hotel b/c we were celebrating my birthday in the city. I called to request late check out the day before and they said I had to request it when I checked in. The reason for this being that they were not sure if the hotel would be completely booked and if it was, then late check out was not possible, which is understandable. But when I asked while I was checking in, the receptionist said that I need to call in the morning. The point of late check out in my case was that I wanted to sleep in the day after celebrating my birthday, not to wake up early enough to ask for late check out. Regardless, I ended up calling at 10am after waking up because of the construction (on a Saturday morning!!) and the lady on the phone said that was fine but we needed to be out by 1pm. I said that was fine. Around 12:45pm we get a loud knock on the door. The lady said that check out was at noon and that we were going to be charged for staying longer! I told her that I had called this morning and she said that she did not have it in her records and that next time we should get the receptionist's name so we could confirm that we had a late check out. Never in my experience of staying in a hotel have I ever heard of this! This woman was so rude and even said ""There's no need to get worked up about it."" We weren't even yelling at her, but we were not appreciative of her tone or attitude nor the thought of being charged for no reason! It was absolutely ridiculous. I would never stay at this hotel again. The room were a small 12x12 cube with no view!! I can safely say this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Pros: location next to penn station Cons: construction on a saturday morning and rude staff!! more
