Positives: the doormen/women are very helpful and courteous; maintenance is immediate, great amenities, and friendly residents. Negatives: many condos are owned by corporations, so there is a transient population; NVG Residential's primary concern is to sell the building, so the developer turned the club room into a sales office on the second floor where the pool, the fitness room, laundry room, and dog run are located (which is invasive), any condos purchased on the south side of the building will lose value when the 30 story condo building is built this fall (please don't tell me that an experienced commercial real estate developer would not know anything about the proposal of a high rise condominium next door), the association fees are astronomical -- over $400 a month (add this to the Milwaukee property taxes and the monthly cost is probably higher than the mortgage payment on your house in River Hills); and although you may own a $500,000 condo, pay the aforementioned association dues and taxes, you will be patronized with memos about the rules and regulations. One last thing -- if you are thinking of moving into a condo to retire from the constant upkeep a house requires or you want to live in the city, I would recommend frequenting Brady Street. The east side is not anywhere near as seedy as it was ten years ago, but it is still a loud, late night neighborhood -- I have been awakened by loud noise coming from the bike path at 3 - 4 a.m.). more
