I own both a 2004 Ford Expedition and a pristine condition 1990's Corvette Convertible and have gone to Cox for problems on both of them in the past. Following a small fender-bender with the Expedition, Cox was the repair-depot Allstate recommended me to. I have to say that although the final product was average, the time it took, the courtesy and lack of professionalism of all the employees was unacceptable.
The Corvette situation is even worse. I first began taking the car there in the early 1990's, while it was still brand-new, and have always taken good care of it, seldom driving it. In the late 1990's, I was having a serious problem, which the Master technicians (read morons) at Cox could not seem to find. I left there with the problem (that didn't exist) and over $2,000 in necessary diagnoses (like $200 for checking my hood hinge). Two minutes after leaving the depot, I had to stop on the side of the road because of this non-existent problem. The mechanic at the Jiffy-Lube, nonetheless, was able to tell me it was a common transmission problem.
I proceeded to go back and give those Master technicians a piece of my mind and was directed to the general manager. He was able to give me some obscure warranty that was signed by him (not the dealership) and sent me on my way. Coincidentally, he no longer worked there when I went in for some work covered by this personal warranty.
After that encounter, I did not go back for a while.....until 2005. I wanted to replace some sun visors. It is understood a part that old will cost a lot, but the labor was ridiculous for 1 hour. I took my car in for what again sounded like a transmission problem (to the uneducated civilian). I am hit with an estimate of over $3000 of necessary work and told the transmission needs to be taken apart completely as well as a $400 complete antenna change (parts only for the antenna)! Th
