Sub-par Service 7/20/2007

I was looking for a dermatologist near my house because I was seeing one at UPenn and wanted one closer. I read decent reviews about this practice. Because I had concerns about skin cancer, I called to make an appointment. Unbeknownst to me, they scheduled me with the Physician's Assistant., rather than any of the 3 doctors. I didn't know she was not a doctor until my second visit, when I happened to refer to her as Dr. XYZ to the nurse. The nurse corrected me. Anywho, the PA told me I had a suspicious freckle/mole near my behind, along with one on my shin that needed removal. I let her excise it. Test results showed abnomalities on the one near my behind, which she left as a mesage on my answering machine. Who leaves that kind of message on the machine? I went back and, despite my gut feeling not to let her do the further removal, I went along with it because I was afraid it was cancerous. Well- I felt butchered after the fact. It took 3 stitches to close the cut, which is not abnormal but the skin looked dimpled because she had sewn it so tight. Then I went back for the removal 2 weeks later and she tried to tell me I had 2 more on my back that needed removal. I told her I would wait until the results came back from my thigh. They were normal, and now I had this nasty looking scar on my leg near my behind that wouldn't heal properly. That was 6 months ago. I asked my husband to look at it last night, as I can't see it myself. Well, wouldn't you know, that she left one of the 3 stitches in there..so he removed it himself. I would never go back there- I waited for an hour each time I had an appointment. I also felt like she was just randomly picking freckles/moles to remove just to increase the bill and make money-everything has come back normal so far. When I asked for a copy of my record, she would not give it to me until I made another appointment. I canceled it by phone later and returned to the dermatologist at UPenn. Pros: Convenient to home Cons: Left stitches in my leg more
