a bit crowded, but for good reason

Saturday, June 02, 2007
i went to the Met on either a friday or saturday with my wife and 4 friends. other places that i have been in seattle with a similar quality of food to date were el gaucho's and morton's. we made reservations, which i would highly recommend, as we were early and still had to wait about 15 minutes after our reservation to be seated. it was a bit noisy, and crowded. the bartender was very knowledgeable about the more rare and uncommon liquors that they had. the captain was very informed about the wines that they had, also of ones they did not. he picked an excellent red ($90-sorry i don't know what it was other than good, red, and dry) that perfectly fit my friend's request. my wife and i got the chateau briand ($110-a sort of filet mignon for two, a first for both of us), it melts in your mouth! the service was excellent, as was the food. overall, i would say i was most impressed with the flavor of the chateau briand and the wine captain. the wait staff and service in general were as expected for this caliber of restaurant. it is close to the ferry as well.
