Chow Thai is a little out of the way place amongst many other more prominently displayed restaurants, so finding it was kinda like finding a jewel in the rough. What I didn't learn until later is that Chow Thai is owned by the same people who own ""Mangos"" and ""Chow Thai Pacific Rim"", so you know the restaurant will be slightly expensive and very good. The restaurant has a nice contemporary design, with Asian art displayed on the walls and light jazz playing. When we arrived we were quickly seated without hesitation, even though we felt that we were a little underdressed for this place. I ordered a grilled beef salad, which is spicy beef on a bed of lettuce served with sticky rice. The sticky rice was real sticky rice, and really sticky too. The dish was quite filling and tasted excellent! I decided to be on the cautious side and order it with only medium heat. However, even with medium heat the dish was very spicy. My nose was running, and I felt very warm. I could barely see, because my eyes were watering so much. But it was wonderful! The waiter was very attentive, bringing us refills as we rapidly emptied our glasses. All the service was very polite and attentive. For dessert we had fried banana spring rolls and a chocolate mousse with ice cream. The desserts were very fresh and very tasty. Their ice cream may have been made in-house. for two drinks, two dishes, and two desserts our bill came out to about $45 before tip. I do feel that the little extra I paid was certainly worth it. Pros: The food, the service, almost everything else Cons: difficult to find location more
