I have been a customer of Carolina Cleaners for over 4 years with minimal problems. However, they recently lost one of my most important dress shirts and they're acting incredibly unprofessionally and, I believe, unethically. It has been 3 weeks (during which I had a job interview and needed the shirt - they knew this and still didn't care) and they have only returned one of my numerous calls. I was originally promised they would buy me a new shirt but recently one of their managers said they were only offering a depreciated value for the shirt. Depreciated value??? You have got to be joking. I have repeatedly asked to talk with Charlie Nelson, who supposedly manages the business. However, he has failed to call me back and always seems to be missing when I actually reach someone. If this is how they treat a loyal customer, think about how they treat someone new.
Although it never bothered me, they have also had a high rate of turnover and are constantly looking for new hires to work in their stores. The employees I have interacted with have ranged from terrible to great, but no one stays around. I think this probably says something about the management and operation of the business.
I have recently filed a complaint against Carolina Cleaners regarding their handling of my lost dress shirt. This is just an awful business when something goes wrong with your clothes. Save yourself the risk of a bad experience and go to one of the many other cleaners in Chapel Hill.
