Worst experience you will ever have - Renter Beware! 4/16/2007

lived at Chalet on the River for 2 years 2000-2002. I moved from out of state and found the apt online, sight unseen. My mistake. But I made the best of it, putting in about $1,000 in redecorating and a completely new paint scheme. According to Terri and Bonnie (owners/managers) it was a 'showcase' apt. Then I lost my job and had to move back home (out of state). I tried to sublet the apartment, however the locals know all too well how this place is run and I had no success. At the time there was about a 50% occupancy rate. I remember very clearly going into Bonnies office and trying to negotiate a lease buyout. I offered $2,500 (all I had to my name) and she said ""We will ruin you and your credit"" and had Frank (who I loved) escort me out of the office. On my way out I warned her not to shut the larger of the 2 elevators down on my move day as this was a common practice for management when people had to move out. See folks this is a city ordinance violation as it is a fire hazard to shut down perfectly running elevators in an effort to punish tenants. So I called the City and they sent an inspector right away. This ticked off Bonnie to no end, but I did get my elevator for the day. Now it's 4 years later and they are suing me for breaking my lease. If you think this will go away it won't. These people are evil money hungry spiteful people. If they say they will ruin you, they will. Their family is connected to a large law firm in WI and they have tons of money in which to make sure you pay monetarily and emmotionally. They don't need your money, it's more a game for them. Please beware when thinking of renting here. Pros: located on the river Cons: management, tenants, laundry facilities, parking, smells, poor condition, not safe, mold in units more
