We left our two mini schnauzers here over spring break. Out youngest, a 5-month-old puppy apparently escaped and was missing for several days. We were in New York when we got a call from our vet -- they had retrieved our dog after a family had turned him in to be scanned and his chip linked him to our vet's office. Elkin's was apologetic but they DID NOT REPORT THE DOG MISSING TO US and acted as if they didn't know THE DOG WAS MISSING FOR 3 DAYS. Thank God for a family who picked him up on the side of the road and held onto him for a couple days and then had his chip scanned. While they did not charge us - we did have our other dog removed because of safety concerns. The kennel manager could only muster, ""I've worked 28 straight days ... every time I take a day off...something like this happens. SCARY!
