Hope you look rich 3/13/2007

If you go here, make sure you're a little older and look like you have money ...\r \r I finished work, took off the tie and put on a T-shirt and jeans to go relax over dinner - by myself, with a textbook for class - on my last night before flying out and going home. I used to live in the area (12 years ago) and remembered this place well, so I was saving it for my last night in town - especially because I was on an expense account, so the price didn't bother me too much.\r \r Wrong move.\r \r The owner (Vito, I presume) seemed to get along great with the middle aged former-yuppie types ... but me he didn't seem to like much. When asked for a recommendation from the menu he snapped ""it's all good"" at me, then pointed to one of the less expensive meals. After I told him I was in a Gnocchi kind of mood, he hurredly assured me he'd put a little on the side for me then scurried off to chat with the other customers.\r \r When he brought out the soup for the meal I tried to chat a little with him to let him know what good memories I had of his restaurant ... but he walked away while I was in mid-sentence, without giving me three words with the soup. That was the last I saw of him at the table.\r \r Someone else brought the meal - with no gnocchi. When I asked what happened to the gnocchi, she looked at me with this confused look and said she'd ask the chef. She never came back either ... probably because the veal was a bit tough in addition to the missing gnocchi.\r \r The busboy seemed pretty nice and pretty good - and he got a few bucks tip and a ""thank you."" This was one of the very, very few times when I've put a big ""0"" for the tip with the note, ""None Earned.""\r Pros: It's got attractive murals inside, along with a fireplace ... Cons: The owner. Just a tad bit of a pain in the rump. more
