I used to shop at talk of the town in Reading all the time that is until yesterday. I attempted to return two dresses that I had purchased for a community theatre show. They did not fit the actresses. They were in the exact same condition as when I bought them. When I went to return the items, I was friendly and calm. The owner refused to accept the dresses. She was rude and could not control her temper. She basically called me a liar and asked me to choose between my boyfriend?s & my memory and hers. She obviously has no sense of customer service. She began shutting out the lights and yelling at me, as I continued to ask why I could not return the dresses. She operates an over priced retail/rental store. The clothing, appears to be authentic, but has marks, holes and other irregularities that often can not be seen, are not marked and are certainly not disclosed. You can never be sure that you are getting a decent item and who wants to spend $30 or more for a dress with holes or stains? Furthermore, while I was there yesterday, she lit a cigarette in the shop; how can someone who owns a shop with vintage and delicate clothing smoke around such items? Beware of cigarette scented clothing. When I first met her, she treated me like I was going to steal something. She never offered to help me even when I told her I could not find what I was looking for. She refused to take back anything I had bought and her store policies are not listed nor are they clearly stated, with the exception of a small 8.5inX3in penned sign hidden behind a sunglass display. I will never shop there again and I recommend that if you are looking for vintage clothing go somewhere else, unless you like being treated like extremely poorly. It?s unfortunate because she just lost a lot of money and I plan on telling everyone I know about her inability to run a professional business.
Pros: Allegedly Authentic clothing
Cons: the owner & her attitude
