Look carefully and then decide

We had a generally pleasant stay at Park Lane Guest House. We stayed in the Carraige House, which has a luxurious king size bed and was otherwise comfortable and attractive. A beautiful small pool was outside our door, and the owner was friendly. However, a few issues were: 1.) You have to look around to find the office at first (it isn't clearly marked). 2.) Breakfast is vegetarian, we got waffles and grapefruit, well-prepared; just don't be disappointed if there are no eggs, bacon or sausage. 3.) There is no door to the private bathroom in the Carraige House, just a curtain, so if you're having a romantic getaway, you'd better be comfortable enough with one another to be able to hear and ignore bathroom noises, and practice saying "I'm using the bathroom now, so don't look in". 4.) The clawfooted bathtub in the Carraige House is comfortable, but keep in mind that it is definitely not a tub for two. It has no shower; you have to use a hand-held attachment for that. 5.) There is an uncurtained skylight in the room, so be prepared for ample sunlight in the morning. 6.) The owner did not tell us at reservation time that there was noisy construction going on at a house directly next to the Carraige House. We noticed this to our dismay at afternoon check-in. Fortunately, we stayed out until late at night and the next morning was a major holiday, so we weren't bothered by it. Otherwise that would have been cause for a very negative review, so ask in advance whether any construction is going on in the neighborhood. All in all, it was pleasant, but a little expensive for what you get. $195 total for one night as described. Pros: Luxurious bed, attractive room and bathroom, clean Cons: Lack of bathroom privacy; construction next door, expensive
