Buellton was a convenient stopping place on our way up the coast so we chose to stay there, also giving us the opportunity to visit Solvang. Of course thanks to ""Sideways"" we attempted to go to The Hitching Post restaurant but it was closed. A. J. Spurs was almost next door so went there instead. The wait was long, perhaps because the Hitching Post was closed, but after having waited for a while we asked if we could be seated in the bar and get the same menu and we could. I don't know why we were not told that before since the bar had plenty of availability. The atmosphere was typically ersatz western. The food was plentiful but mediocre. The service was average. Sure, we walked out with enough to eat, but for the price we felt that food should have been better. There must be better restaurants around there. We probably should have gone into one of the towns and tried out a restaurant there instead, which is what we will do if we stay in Buellton again.
