nice and quiet

Wednesday, June 28, 2006
We've stayed at the Belvedere twice now. It's just off 8th avenue and it 's very quiet. It's a short walk to all the theaters. Rooms are average size for a room in New York. We had a king size bed-it was so comfortable that we fell asleep quickly and hated to get out of it. Bellmen are fantastic. They will help you with whatever you need and are NOT the kind that hold out their hands for a tip. Good courteous service from everyone. The only drawback is that the elevators are small and take too long to get to you. They can probably fit 6 people if crammed in and maybe 4 with luggage. Most people don't know to use the side elevator. It's to the right of the lobby near the stairs. The left side elevator is a service elevator, but we go on it a few times out of frustration. There was also no air conditioning in the hallways which made waiting for the elevator seem even longer. The air in the room was fabulous. If you want a good hotel that is clean and decent and friendly, it's worth the money! Pros: quiet; friendly staff; clean Cons: small elevators
