Too Uptight for Children 5/21/2006

Though they tout themselves as child-focused with a great book collection situated at the window, don't be fooled into thinking they actually want a child in their store. They appear to have a look but don't touch policy. Though they have loose bricks on the floor in the childrens' section that naturally attracts kids to the area, don't assume your kids can actually touch them. And even though there may be toys on the floor that any child (or parent) would assume were there for children to play with, the staff will quickly be all over you if your child makes that false assumption. Though their location is great, my experience was very transactional and uninviting - not what you would look for in your local, independent bookstore. Pros: location Cons: customer service more
