Great Tandoori Chicken by Doug S. at InsiderPages

Wazwan is a fantastic, inexpensive food-court style Indian food take-out place. This is not a restaurant, but for cafeteria style Indian food, it is every bit as good as the sit-down restaurants in Berkeley. I particlarly like their Tandoori Chicken. It's always tender, never dry, done just the way I like it. The food is always tasty and the portions are generous.
The only drawback is the mob-scene in the Emeryville Public market which presents a problem: Once you get your food (in styrofoam clam-shells, on plastic cafeteria trays) where do you sit? Sometimes its so busy you need a strategy such as having one person sit down and save a table while the other orders the food. The alternative is walking around with your food tray looking for a free, clean table. ( I have bad memories of sitting at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet, with one or two messy eaters sill sitting there, slurping their noodles. ) If you can manage this, you can manage the Public Market food scene. The same thing is true for all the restaurants at the Emery-Bay Public market.
The Public Market is a good spot to grab some food before going to the UA- Emery Bay Theater next door, or the AMC-Bay Street Cinemaplex down the road a half mile away.
Finally a note to parents with screaming kids: The Public market is your kind of place. They have a kid-friendly ball room filled with plastic balls. The noise level of the market place is so high that no-one will hear your screaming toddler.
PROS: Great Tandoori Chicken, Indian Curries
CONS: Emeryville Public Market mob scene.
