The Lowe Art Museum was another mandatory field trip when I was in school. Although I thought it was dull and boring then, I've grown to love its magnificent collection of artwork. The first art museum in South Florida, it's 13,000object collection is now one of the most important in the southeast, with strengths in Renaissance and Baroque, American, Ancient and Native American and Asian art. The 41 Renaissance and Baroque paintings and sculptures are the backbone of its extensive collection which also includes Greco-Roman antiquities, 17th to 19th century European art, 19th century American art, modern and contemporary art, art of Latin America, photography, art of Native America, art of the ancient Americas, art of Asia, art of Africa and art of the Pacific Islands. With such diversity and because the featured collections change often, I can say a visit to The Lowe Art Museum is no longer dull and boring.
