Hitchcock must be spinning... 7/27/2004

In the event somehow didn't know, part of ""The Birds"" was filmed in the original Tides Wharf Restaurant. Sadly, those black and white prints are all that remains of the restaurant where fish went from boat to table-- as did many of the fisherman-- wet and smelly, sitting side by side with tourists. In the 1990's, someone got the brilliant idea to raze the old complex and put up the new, sterile edifice which stands in its place. Prices skyrocketed, no longer even vaguely commensurate with the quality of food. Don't get me wrong. If you don't mind the prices, the food is good. Fish is still fresh. I still love their clam chowder and bread (try The Whalewatcher Special.) But, there is a coldness about the place I cannot escape. The fishy, dockside charm of the place is gone. It's like eating in a warehouse with windows. Pros: LOADS of parking, Fresh fish, Chowder Cons: , Service varies, High prices more
