OLD-TIME TEXAS DINER 9/5/2003

Reminiscent of an old-time Texas roadside diner--complete with the classic Texas gum-chewing waitress who knows everybody's name and job, really good food. Used to be a BBQ joint located on Seminary Dr., owned and run by the current cook's father, so they been doing this for years and know exactly what they're doing. Ribs are slow-cooked and tender, as is the spicy link sausage. They serve breakfast, too, starting at 5:00 in the morning--fajita omlettes with hash browns (real potatoes!) and biscuits (fresh-made!) & gravy or pancakes. Or try scrambled eggs with hash browns and a chicken fried steak smothered in gravy for something different--you can't miss--it's all finger-lickin' good! Friday is make your-own-burger day--you can order a cheeseburger made with anything you want added on--grilled onions, mushrooms, guacamole, etc. Located just off the freeway, so a favorite for truck-drivers and off-duty cops. Plenty of free parking. Pros: BBQ ribs, fajita omlettes, cheeseburgers Cons: uncomfortable chairs, tiny bathrooms more
