The only visitors who truly enjoy 6th street anymore are drunk frat boys and those who patronize copy bands and tacky souvenir shops. Not that there's anything wrong with any of those groups of people, my point is that for the most part, 6th street is a long way from representing the real culture of Austin anymore, as far as something visitors really come here to see. And the area is big hassle parking-wise and increasingly dangerous, especially for women. The real music scene Austin is famous for is now happening along red river and in south austin mostly now, and there are a lot more interesting attractions representing Austin's culture, such as the SoCo area.
Cons: dirty, tourist-trap business, no originality
