I absolutely love this bookstore. They specialize in used and rare books but also have a bunch of other ecclectic stuff. You can pretty much walk around the place for an hour just looking at all of the stuff they have and the decor. The place isn't in the best of conditions, but then again, it's a used book store.

Although it is VERY pricey for the amount of food you get, Geja's is a Chicago institution. If you've never had fondue at a restaurant before, this is the only place you'll ever need to go. Their meals come in packages that you can buy with varying price tags. I would pick the cheapest one if it's your first time. Go at least once.

If you like loud and rowdy bars, this is the one for you. The place is completely packed on weekends, and is frequently a place where singles go to find other singles. The drink selection here is on par with other bars, and the prices are decent. If you want to have any sort of an audible conversation with someone, though, I'd go elsewhere.

This is a must-visit seafood restaurant if you're in the Lincoln Park area. The place is frequently packed with patrons, and it's a pretty fun environment to be in. Like the other reviewer said, the lollipop hidden under food is pretty funny and endearing. Go on a day when they have good specials, and you won't regret it.

This is such a great place to have a meal with friends at odd hours. Golden Nugget is open 24 hours a day, which makes it the perfect place to go to at 3am. Their prices are very affordable, and portions are more than enough. It may not look like much from the outside, but this place is great and gets lots of foot traffic.

This should be number one on your must-do list if you're visiting Chicago for the first time. Wendella does great architectural boat tours for an affordable price. I went on one recently that lasted about an hour, and the view alone is worth the price. The tour guide did a fantastic job of relaying history and anecdotes.

I once spent a whole hour browing through Gaymart. It's way bigger than it looks from the outside, and contains a huge selection of eccelctic items. The store is in the middle of Boy's Town in the Belmont area, so it's part of the whole Queer Chicago atmosphere. If you're in the area, you should stop by and pick up a souvenir. They're pretty affordable here.

When I used to live in Evanston, I would call American cab from O'Hare. Their prices are pretty much on par with Northshore cab and 303 taxi. Unlike Northshore, the American cab drivers have never been late to scheduled pickups, and are generally pretty friendly drivers. I would caution that, depending on the driver you get, they can sometimes drive recklessly.
