The Brea Municipal Golf course is definitely not for everyone. It's a really short 9 hole course, that would be recommended for beginners but not for those at the advanced level. The really nice thing about this place is the price...it's around $7 for nine holes! You can't beat that...even if the course isn't the best around. It's pretty average as far as upkeep goes. If you are looking for a quick game for a nice price, definitely check out the nine holes at Brea Municipal golf course.

Birch Hills Golf course is located in Brea, CA...which is already a really nice upper class area. One of the many golf courses in the area is Birch Hills, which I had the opportunity to visit the other day. The greens fees are a little more than what I am used to paying, but you always get what you pay for. I think the most I paid in Iowa for 18 holes was $20...at Birch Hills it was close to $30. Renting a cart will bring the price up another $16. The course is really nice though...it was a good time and I didn't feel hurried by people playing behind us. Definitely recommended.

The Slice in Playa Vista has some great pizza. I work at Electronic Arts and the Slice is right next door, so I have frequented the place as of late. For awhile I was eating there every day. The only downside is that each slice costs at least two dollars, and that's with no toppings...so it's a little expensive. Two slices are pretty filling however, so that is a good thing. I'd definitely recommend the Slice to anyone looking for some good pizza by a non-chain pizzeria. It can be a little hard to find, but it's a great find!

I had the opportunity a while ago to check out the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The show was "The Producers" with Jason Alexander and Martin Short. It's a great theater, and not only that, they show a lot of big productions there. A lot of stars perform here, so if you are in to the whole Hollywood thing, you should definitely check this place out. It's an old theater, but I think that's where all of it's charm comes from. It's not the biggest theater I have been in either, but it definitely accommodated the audience and made for a more personal theater going experience. If you ever have the chance to check out a play at the Pantages Theater, enjoy it...it's worth the trip to Hollywood.

If you want to break into the Television and Film industry, a nice way to see what it is all about is to try background acting. The pay is horrible, but it's a good way to try to get in at the bottom and just see what it is all about. Central Casting is the biggest background casting agency in Hollywood. They cast most of the Television shows and a lot of the movies that are in production out here. I'd have to say that it hasn't been a good experience working for them however. I've been booking jobs through them trying to get my SAG vouchers for the past five years, yet the main people they give these vouchers to are their friends are the busty blonde bombshells that the casting directors are into. It's not a fair system, but it's the way the industry works as a whole, so I can't completely take it out on Central. However, when you call in for work, a lot of these people are really mean. If you don't think someone fits something, don't tell them you're not attractive enough. It's demeaning and unnecessary. Yet I've heard of this happening before through this agency. Unfortunately if you want to do extra work, you have to use them, because they book so many shows. So while you may get work, it's not always the best work. Take it for what it's worth.

I used to use Smog Pros for my service on my Honda until I had something shady occur. My transmission was giving me problems so I took it in and they said I needed a new transmission. I trusted them so I went ahead and did it. It worked great, but then my friend took his car in, and they told him that he needed a new transmission as well. He decided to get a second opinion, and the other place he went to said he definitely didn't need it, and that they were probably trying to rip him off. The part he needed was only $50. I'll never know if they pulled the same thing on me, but I think that they did. Don't trust this place at all...they have cheap service, but something fishy is definitely going on over there.

I'd recommend getting there when they open...I was the first one there so my service was fast, but as more and more people came in, they were telling them it would take all day to get around to their car. One thing that I didn't appreciate was something I didn't even realize at first. When they were almost done with the truck they mentioned that transmission fluid was really dirty and I should get it replaced. I didn't want to spend the extra money, so I said no. While I waited for the truck after that, I noticed that he told that to everybody else when their cars were almost finished! So there was definitely something fishy there...I felt like they were trying to get me to get more service on the truck that I didn't really need. Otherwise it was a pretty good experience, nothing outstanding though.

I had a horrible experience with this place. Before I had used the great headshot reproduction place called Prints Charm'n, I tried this horrible place called Final Print. When I went in there I didn't know what to expect...it was located in a residential neighborhood and was basically just someone's house that they were renting out the office space in. The prices were pretty steep, but I needed my headshots for something I was doing two weeks after that. They promised me my headshots the following week, so I went ahead with them. Ten days later I hadn't heard anything, so I called them and asked what was going on. They said that they hadn't started on them yet because they lost my negatives. I was furious. I probably should have just made an 8x10 and taking it in to get reproduced, but I didn't know any better. A week later they called back and said that they found them, and would get started on them. A month after I made the order, I finally received my reproductions. I didn't get a discount or refund or anything. A horrible experience, and a company I would never recommend to anyone.

Someone told me about Prints Charm'n, and I decided to check them out. I'm glad I did! Their prices were perfect...I think I paid somewhere around $50 for 300 repros of my headshot. It took them about a week, and when they said it was done, it was definitely done. It's a small little office they have there in West Hollywood, but it's always filled with people getting repros. Definitely check them out if you are looking for some cheap, good quality photo reproductions.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is probably my favorite amusement park in Southern California. It has around 10 super fast roller coasters to choose from, as well as a number of other rides to entertain...
Six Flags Magic Mountain is probably my favorite amusement park in Southern California. It has around 10 super fast roller coasters to choose from, as well as a number of other rides to entertain the whole family. It can get a little crowded on certain days, but then there are other days that you can go when there are no lines at all...so it is hit or miss. They have had problems with gangs at this park, but nothing out of the ordinary that I have seen on my visits. Definitely check out Scream, X, and the Superman Ride. There are so many things to do here, but it's mostly for the thrill seekers. I'd definitely recommend Magic Mountain highly.
