Everyone who has loved Legos should go at least once, but this park is made for the little ones. Thirty four inches is the magic number for most of the rides, with 42 inches for most of the rest. There are some rides and attractions that are not restricted and most rides allow a parent to ride along.
Mini Town is fun to look at and you should budget about one hour to see most of it. Its good to do about mid-trip, after you've done the rides you wanted, but before the kids are too tired.
Bring your lunch, because park food is expensive. There is a restaurant in the Knights Tale part of the park that has some fairly decent priced combo plates (don't remember the name).
Legoland has added a couple of new "older" kids rides in the last few years, but don't expect Magic Mountain caliber rides.

This aquarium is a perfect fit for small kids. The aquarium has a large collection of interesting fish, but the big attraction draws are the large tank and the Sea-Horse exhibit.
The large tank is probably 30 feet high and 20 feet wide window. Its fascinating to watch the fish move around in the tank. If you're a scuba diver, you can sign-up to dive in the tank during a supervised outing.
The Sea-horse exhibit is much smaller. The shapes and colors of the sea-horses is very interesting and they seem to move in the strangest ways.
Its about a half day, maybe longer if you go to the tide pool where they let you touch the animals. Usually lots of kids on school outings.

Good place to burn off some energy if you skip the bus tour. Without the bus tour, I don't think you could see the whole park, but you do get to spend more time watching the animals you like.
The Elephants, Gorillas, Polar Bears, and Panda are the big draws, but nearly all animal have good displays. I like the Polar bears and hippo's display as they are setup so that you can see below the water. There is a sea lion show about mid-day that is hokey but fun.
Bring a lunch as the food inside the part is expensive. You can get your hand stamped for re-entry later that same day.

Look for the big barber sign on the shops west of the big tower in the Rite-Aid center. They usually have $7 and $8 painted on the windows.
This is your typical barber shop, don't expect to get a pedicure or have your hair washed with orange-blossom shampoo. I've only seen men have their hair cut there, but the price list does indicate they do women's hair also. You can wait in the random rotation or wait for a specific barber.
Its very quick if you go when its not very crowded. You need to tell the barber exactly what you want before they start because they will be done before you change your mind. Expect to pay $7 for a regular men's haircut.

This is a great half day trip for little kid and big kids who like trains. I've watch two and three year old kids who will watch the train for hours.
There is a larger train display (largest size model railroad track) that I think was well done. It had many trains packed into a smaller display area with more flashing lights and sounds than the other displays. Especially interesting is that they had one train that had a video camera on the front that would display to monitors around the room. This is the best model for the littlest kids.
The older children who still like trains will also enjoy the scale model displays of southwest landscape. Very well done.

Not your usual Domino's Pizza pizza, they usually have strange toppings like duck and feta cheese. I usually split a pizza and main dish or large salad. When I say large salad, I mean a "Large" salad, it would be a meal in itself.
Anyway, the prices have gone up recently and I feel the quality has decreased somewhat. It might have been that days' chefs or that it was takeout, but the last meals were somewhat disappointing. I think I'm about ready to try again.
Years ago, this was a popular place to go, but I think that the customers have decrease. They've also opened some other places around San Diego.
Prices a little higher than I like.

This restaurant is the "Fast Food" of Japanese cuisine. I usually do take-out and everything is ready within 15 minutes (more during their busy time after 6PM).
They have four daily special of sushi rolls and combo plates. You can usually expect to pay between 4 and 7 dollars per item. I usually have the combo plate which is ginger or teriyaki chicken, rice, small salad and a small side dish (dumplings or fried seafood).
Their sushi rolls are very good, ranging from California rolls to yellow tail tuna. Expect to pay between three and ten dollars for a fairly good size portion.

This restaurant has a giant list of daily specials which the chef excels at making. They also have a fixed menu which is also excellent. This is a very traditional Italian fair, if you're expecting something like Pizza Hut, this is not your place.
They have thin and crispy pizza, salads, soups, antipasta, pastas and main course meals. Stay for the desserts and Italian coffees (dark and rich).
Somewhat higher priced than I like, but good for a special occaision. I usually spend about 15 dollars per person.
Look for it near the movie theater.
