Extraordinary Desserts features beautifully decorated desserts that are amazingly good. They use high quality ingredients and beautiful decorations such as flowers and a gold leaf. They offer a large assortment of desserts. The menu keeps changing, so there's always something different to try when you go there.
It is on the pricey side, averaging about $7 for a large slice of cake. However, the extra money is worth it, because you can't hardly find a place that sells such delicious desserts.
The only bad thing is that the cafe gets really crowded, especially during the weekends. It has small tables and booths, so you'll be hard-pressed to find a seat.

The service is poor. The menu is very tricky. When they ask when you want something extra (like pasta or rice), be sure that you ask if it is an extra charge. Beware about ordering drinks, because hot drinks are free but the cold drinks are not.

Sunday Café is good for a late night meal since it closes in the early hours (i.e. 2am). It’s a fusion of Hong Kong style/ American food. The quality of food is what you pay for. The prices are reasonable (about $5-$10 a dish), but the food is ok. The service is poor and many of the waiters don’t speak English. It’s a good hang-out place, especially among the young high-school students.

Lee’s Tofu is a hidden gem of Monterey Park. It is an authentic Korean tofu house. Although it is not well-known, they have very good food at a decent price. They have a variety of tofu soup and some other courses (e.g. Korean barbeque). Of course, they have a wide range of side dishes for everyone. Although Korean tofu houses keep sprouting up around the San Gabriel Valley, I like coming here because I usually don’t have to wait for a table.

I haven’t been there in a while, but the last time I was there, the dressing room was a big room without doors or curtains. It was a bit uncomfortable changing in front of others. But the store is large, with a wide selection of clothes for a relatively low price.

Monterey Park is known for their inexpensive, but wonderfully delicious Chinese restaurants. Although it is priced on the higher end, Ocean Star is considered one of the best Dim Sum restaurants in the area. They offer a variety of food. The service is not very good and most of the waiters don’t speak English. But they are willing to show you the dishes, and I just point to the ones that I like. The popularity and reputation for their good food is evident by their long lines. However, the restaurant is very big, so you don’t usually have to wait too long. Either way, the wait is worth it.

Mexicatessen is a cozy little restaurant with tight parking and few chairs and tables. However, it is one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. The food is reasonably priced for Mexican food (which is relatively inexpensive). The place is clean and the workers are polite. And the food is very good. I highly recommend their tacos and quesadillas. The burritos are alright, not the best. But you can’t beat their tacos!
