These would probably retail for twice the amount. I compare this store to a Ross or a Marshalls, except that Brandie’s is a lot more organized.

Q-Pid is a small store located in Atlantic Square. They sell random things such as make-up, stationary, household items, etc. I go there to buy stationary items and love their greeting cards that make music. They have a limited selection of the items they carry, but most of the things are relatively inexpensive (about a dollar).

I had a great experience at the La Jolla Playhouse. The play I watched was performed by graduate students from the UCSD campus. The production was wonderfully funny. Although I sat in the back, I was able to see the stage well. The theater is small, but I hardly noticed it when I was watching the play. It’s definitely great for its price.

The Price Center Theater is located in the center of the UCSD campus. They offer movies on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $3. Sometimes they show movies on the weekends. Although the movies they show are old, you can’t beat the price! The theater has stadium seating, but the seats are not very wide or very comfortable. You get what you pay for.

The Birch Aquarium is an extension of the UCSD campus; therefore, you have to pay for parking (but I think weekends are free). For adults, admission is about $10. It’s a small place, but it’s really fun. You’re welcomed by a huge beautiful fountain in the front. In the back, there’s a touch tank and a beautiful view of the ocean. The touch tank is great for kids and adults alike. . .there’s a really soft sea slug (I know, sounds gross but it’s really cool!). There’s a whole bunch of aquariums of sea animals from different regions of the world.

Elias is a hair salon and a day spa. A hair cut costs about $40. This includes shampooing and blow drying. I told the stylist she could cut it any way she wanted, and she gave me bangs and layered my hair. It was a cute and trendy do, but I thought it looked better when it grew a little bit longer. My stylist was really nice and loved to talk!

Although California is not known for its barbecue, I was told that Phil's BBQ rivals those back in Mississippi. Phil's BBQ looks like a small mom & pop shop, but the long line outside of the restaurant is testament to its great bbq.
The food is reasonably priced. A whole rack of ribs is about $18, but it includes sides. I love their french fries and their corn on the cob.
The wait is usually long, especially on the weekends. If you are not planning to eat there, I recommend phoning in your order. But the wait is definitely worth it!

The food is incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. I loved the lagsana and the tiramisu. They offer a good selection of wine at reasonable prices.
What I loved best is the service. The owner/manager, Luca, served us. He made us feel welcome - he was very polite and very friendly.

I came to Donovan's expecting top-notch food and service, since it came highly recommended and is voted as one of America's top steakhouses. But after dining here, I think that this place is highly overrated because I was very disappointed in the quality of their food.
I ordered a filet mignon (medium well), but it came out burnt and dry. The side dishes were great and they offered large portions, but I'd rather go to Outback Steakhouse. I heard that the New York steak is pretty good, but my friend had put A1 sauce on it. . . good steaks shouldn't need A1, which overpowers the flavor of the steak anyway. To be fair, I did think that the calamari and the creme brulee were good.
Although the steaks weren't very good, the service was outstanding. They were polite - always refilling our water and always cleaning away any bread crumbs. They offer free valet parking (but you have to tip, of course). Donovan's also offers a large wine selection.
Overall, the atmosphere and service were great, but the quality of food is poor.

I've been to this restaurant several times - a few times for dinner and once to take advantage of their lunch special. At lunch, the prices are a lot cheaper but they offer a lot less selection. The prices are about $15 for lunch and $40 for dinner. It is more expensive Fri-Sun than on the other days.
The restaurant lies in the heart of the Gaslamp District. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet. The waiters come around with meat on a large sword. The waiters will brief you on the type of meat on their sword, and you decide if you want it or not. It may seem slow in the beginning as you are waiting for different meats to arrive at your table, but they pile up quickly. They also offer a great salad bar that includes Brazillian hors d'oeuvres with a Korean flare.
The meats they offer varies depending on the time of day (more meats are offered at dinner). They range from ham & pineapple to filet migon. I highly recommend the skirt steak.
Drinks and desserts cost extra.
