The Cue Ball is a small billiard hall that appeals to the younger crowds. They have quite a few pool tables. They have pretty good equipment, but it’s not top of the line. They serve alcohol for a decent price. They start checking I.D. around 8pm-10pm (I’m not sure exactly when), so if you’re younger than 18, get ready to be carded.

The Stanyan Park Hotel is located in the Haight and Ashbury area of San Francisco. The hotel is old and the rooms are small. I booked the hotel about a week in advance and paid about $180 for an overnight stay. The walls are thin, so you can hear other rooms’ doors, voices, and the traffic from the street. They don't have many amenities. There’s no parking, so I had to park in a public lot about a half a block away. The people working there are nice; one brought an iron and an ironing board up several flights up stairs for me. They also serve breakfast in the morning.

I’m not a big fan of cars, but if you are, you might enjoy the Automotive Museum. They have an extensive collection of cars and motorcycles, from the classics to those that are flashy. I have to admit that some of the cars were interesting. I saw a Cadillac that would have been a door-to-door salesman’s dream. It had a telephone, a bong, and a washing machine.

The World Famous San Diego Zoo is so much fun! The zoo is huge and there are so many animals to see. Since the exhibits are spaced out widely, you don’t have to worry too much about crowds, except maybe when viewing the baby panda. The park is very hilly, so be sure to bring your walking shoes. The admission is sort of expensive, but if you plan to go more than once, you can buy a season pass (in which the price counts as a tax deduction). Parking is free.

The people at Hope Dentistry are really nice. The place is nicely decorated and well kept. While you’re waiting for the dentist, you have a whole bunch of magazines to look through. The dentist is extremely nice and seems well-trained. He extracted two wisdom teeth a few months ago without any swelling or pain. Considering that one of my teeth had to be surgically removed, I think he did a great job!

Phonex is a small cell phone store that sells Verizon and T-mobile. Their phones were really cheap, so I bought four phones from this store - two of them were LGs. I dropped about 90% of my calls on the LGs and took them to an actual Verizon shop. They updated the software on the phones, but I was still dropping about 30% of my calls. After contacting Verizon so many times and performing a whole bunch of tests, they told me that the phones were probably from a defective batch and I had to exchange them at the store I bought them from. Phonex wanted me to pay a 10% restocking fee. I also realized that I had a contract with them that said that I can’t cancel my service or else they’ll charge me a huge fee. They kept saying it wasn’t the phones; however, I used to have an LG with Verizon and never had a problem with dropped calls. The lady at Phonex who sold me the phones complained to another customer about me (in front of me!). She finally allowed me to exchange the phones without the restocking fee, but she called me “stupid” for haggling her. She also repackaged the phones that I returned. When I asked her what she was doing, she said that customers like it when the phones are packaged. I told her that she should send the phones back to LG, because Verizon said they were defective. She said that the phones still work, so she can still sell them. So, beware. . .the phones you buy from here may not be new.

I love Henry’s Marketplace. They have several locations in the San Diego area. Although it is a small market with a limited selection of products, it is a great place for a health food nut! I come here for the produce, because they are fresh and are really cheap. I buy a ton of produce here and only spend half the amount that I would shopping for produce at a large chain store like Ralphs.

The San Diego Museum of Art is one of the lovely museums in Balboa Park. It is not a large museum, but the admission is decent (about $10 for adults and about $7-8 for students). They have an extensive collection of art from around the world including Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Even the structure of their building is art; the architecture is beautiful.

I think that you can picnic down in the field, where you can get a great view of the race since you are at eye-level with the horses.

I’m not a big sports fan, so I didn’t find this museum interesting; however, they present many sports including football, fishing, and surfing. I believe most, if not all, of the paraphernalia of the sports teams are from San Diego.
