This is a great place - the staff is knowledgable, and the selection is as eclectic as you can imagine.
In this day and age, when you can download a song for a buck online, it almost doesn't pay to buy CDs.
But this place makes it worthwhile - and fun again. They have a lot of obscure titles - new and used - that you may not be able to find online, and they have constant turnover of their music selection.

If you require the bare minimum from your motels, this is the place for you. By minimum, you get everything you need: a private room with a private bath (and yes, the parking space right outisde your window), a clean bed, working heat and working air. They also have coffee and donuts and travel brochures in the main office.
But that's all you get - don't expect anything else.
This is probably the best value in lodging in the area, and if you don't want luxury or extra comforts, this is definitely the place to stay. It's right off the Thruway and close to "downtown" New Paltz, which is a tiny area to begin with.

This place is great - but it's also for people with far too much money (and more than me). It's an old Swiss Castle at the top of a mountain. The rooms are all luxurious, and many have fireplaces - which is great in the winter. The food is superb.
However, if you want the Mohonk experience without the price, stay someplace in town and get a day pass to hike on the Mohonk grounds.
Your wallet will thank you - unless you can afford it, in which case I'm sure it's worth every penny, if you're into the whole luxury travel thing.

This place is a little overpriced - maybe even more than a little overpriced.
But it is a nice place - the rooms are clean, the food is good and it's right near some great hiking trails (and if you're into rock climbing, this is the right place for you).
There is also a small hiking trail on the grounds of the lodge.

Service here is painfully slow. They send most of their items out, at least last time I checked. They are quick to charge late fees if you don't pick up your items right away (although they will usually take that fee off if you ask). And I once sent a hat to be dry cleaned by them, and it came back all shrunken. Certainly, they should know how to clean a hat without shrinking it.
Their prices are cheap. But if someone is looking to rent a tux, you may have to wait for them at the register - which can take a while - to pick up or drop off your items.

I've used this laundromat for years. They are the best - the laundry comes back clean and fresh and unshrunken, and the proprietors are incredibly friendly.
Let's face it: many of us (read: me) don't place tremendous demands on our laundry workers. I just want my laundry clean, fresh and free of bleach stains and other discolorations.
In that respect, this place delivers. Not only that, but they often had my laundry done the same day. They are also very cheap, and they've never lost any of my clothes.

The best place to look is in the new arrival bins in the front of the store. It's 99 percent trash - who needs anything by De Barge, ever? But there are lots of little hidden gems in there, including obscure CDs that are not always available in online music stores.
This is also a great place to kill some time if you're waiting for a hair cut at Super Cuts.

Mr Cheapo is a better option than buying new CDs, but still, for your money, you're better off just buying your tunes online.
What a place like Mr Cheap does well - something no online store can quite replicate yet - is the browsing experience. You never know what you'll come up with just digging through piled of used CDs.
Sure, some of it is garbage. Most of it is. But sometimes you'll come up with a gem like, I dunno, Gwar's first album or something.

Service here is very prompt and my articles came back very clean. They are friendly, and you can often get same day or next day service.
They do charge what seems like a bit more than usual to clean comforters - but the job they did was superb, and the comforters came back smelling clean and fresh.
I can reccomend the Jericho Laundromat as a fine and decent local business.

The real deal here is on the weekends. On Saturday and Sunday, they have all you can eat lunch buffets. It's worth every penny, and the food is just spectacular.
Also, the staff here is great - even if you don't come often, there is a good chance they will remember you - and that personal touch is great.
