Simply Spectactular

Tuesday, December 12, 2006
Stumbling Goat was recommended by a friend that described the cuisine as 'seasonal', which didn't tell me anything other than the ingredients would be fresh. Their menu is based on food that is in season in Washington. It is a mix of French Bistro and New American cuisine. They regularly feature a Wagyu beef dish and have a some sort of local poultry. The food is simply spectacular. We had mussels and mini-Wagyu burgers as an appetizer. I had a leg of lamb over steamed bean shoots that was awesome. Others at our table enjoyed a braised beef and the rabbit. All the dishes were incredibly good. The interior was simple with a kind of nouveau-country feel. The service was great, appropriately timing the meal and allowing us to set the pace of the evening.
