This place rocks. The guys who run the show are all super nice and helpful (even arranged for us to have 100 folks kayak and lunch the day before our wedding). The food is delicious and worth the wait- priced right and fresh, fresh, fresh. Take a kayak out and explore the cut and the arboretum and then kick back with a beer and a taco.

I've always avoided the big gyms (24 hr fitness, gold's etc) because they reminded me of high school/college in the worst of ways. I also prefer a clean, pretty facility with classes that are relevant to my lifestyle. Sound, Mind and Body offers all of that- and I only buy a punch card so that I can enjoy the outdoors and only work out indoors when rain falls too hard for a run. The pilates classes are surprisingly good and the instructors are extremely professional. Give it a shot.

This has been the biggest restaurant surprise of the summer for us. This little place (tucked behind the Blue ??? pub right off Stoneway) is a feast for the eyes and the belly. The decor is just as the name states, bizzare. The food is fresh, homemade pasta and deeeelish (also great salads, a good wine list and according to my husband, "some of the best homemade tiramisu around"). The staff are also a crew of hilarious, fun-loving warm people that make you feel like you are part of the family. Head over there when you get the chance- you'll be back again and again.

Dressed up like brothel workers and bras hanging from the ceiling, Madame K's is a pg-13 experience. (I actually think no kids are allowed). Their pizza is awesome - unique flavors and combos. The dessert delightful- an ORGASM: cookie baked into a pan served in the pan with ice cream and hot fudge. Fun for the table to share an orgasm! And chocolate cigarettes come with your check.

My husband and were fresh off our trip to Vietnam where we ate pho daily and we had to hunt down the very best offering of Seattle. We gave a few other spots a chance but no one can compete. This is hands down the best pho in town. They have locations in the U-district,on Aurora and now in Ballard. French cream puffs arrive at your table before you have a chance to order, the steaming broth is tasty and the accessories make the soup (basil, hot peppers, hoison sauce, bean sprouts, sriracha sauce...). Ever need a lesson in how to doctor up that bowl into a delightful treat, just ask me. Oh, and did I mention- the whole thing won't cost you more than $6 per person (drink included- try the coconut water- yum!)

Though Lisa Chick and others have abandoned this joint for Essential (Essentch as we often call it), it still rocks the party. The challah is great as well as all breads. Its packed for breakfast on weekends but worth the wait- very creative menue with all kinds of herbs mixed in and fresh breads/pizza crusts accenting all entrees. Lunch is great too. And how can you beat staring in the window while the bakers frost cakes and roll out dough! Essential could use some windows into their kitchen!

TaiChi, the owner and sushi chef extraordinaire, has created a very cool, hip sushi joint in the heart of Fremont. His staff is cool, his restaurant is cool and he keeps his cool while creating amazing sushi pieces and rolls. This place is open late too- I think they serve dinner until 10pm! Don't miss the salmon he gets fresh - white salmon, sockeye, etc. And be sure to save room for a mochi- delish!

I've adjusted to this store and found that aside from its incredibly friendly staff-it has quite a bit to offer for a if you cannot schlep to Whole Foods. Upstairs is a whole "health food section" that includes organic produce and bulk grains, etc. One thing to note- Fred Myer may be a bit of a drive west but the prices are noticeably lower than QFC!
