This is a great little gift store/card store right in the heart of Fremont. The best secret is- they stock Koco Cards (if you don't know of these you should!) for $1 each! Yep. The cards that retail everywhere else for $2.25 are $1 each at this store. I buy them for friends on the east coast and send them boxes full.

We had our floors refinished by these guys and their work was amazing. We couldn't believe our eyes when they finished! Give them a call and get an estimate- their work is great.

Though I prefered the first location (in the Mission), you really cannot deny how good this food is- especially the claypot fish and the shaken beef. These two dishes along with a delish lemongrass tofu are worth the trip. For your basic spring rolls and noodle dishes you can eat more cheaply at Sunflower back in the mission!

We tried this place first b/c they have a rockin' (well, an open..) bar that is open late and is somewhat hip. Now that Sea Monster and Wonder Bar are open, who knows what the bar scene is like. The food is fresh and good- moosho veggies, sizzling rice soup were quite nice.

We used this hotel to host about 100 of our wedding guests last summer and they came through in a big way. The rooms are unique and very cool, there is a free wine tasting each night in the lobby, Sazerac -the restaurant/bar serves up yummy food and great drinks and frankly, I'm over the "W" and how dark it is in there. The service was impeccable and our guests loved the fact that they could each have a pet gold fish in their room (water changed and fish fed by hotel staff). Centrally located- right near the new library and walking distance to the water, market, etc.

I'm always torn about tapas and "small plates"- will I get to eat enough? Will it be too expensive and I won't really have tried much of anything? I went to Pair for the first time last night with 3 friends (all foodies) and we did just fine. The restaurant-while oft compared to Lark- has a really inviting setting (soft lighting, benches at many tables, shared tables) and is tucked away in Ravenna. The menu offers so many great choices that we almost wished we had come in a bigger group so we could have ordered more. Highlights: cambazola fondue (with apples, pears and bread for dipping), pork tenderloin braised in balsamic/date/olive reduction served on toasts, brisket with horseradish sauce (this was terrific), spinach with carmelized shallots and garlic. Quite nice and the portions worked out just fine. At $30 a piece with a beverage, we felt happy, full and excited to come back and try more.

Oasis is the cool hang out if you like playing pool and watching asian music videos. If you don't need a hang out but want some delish bubble tea (Taro is my favorite flavor), head here. You can have lunch/dinner in the ID and then check out Oasis (across from the Uwajimaya bookstore). If you haven't tried bubble tea and you do like tapioca- then you might just be a fan. You pick your flavor and if you want it in milk tea form or a slush (basically milk tea turned into a shake). For beginners, I recommend Taro flavored slush with tapioca. Note the awesome packaging- this Taiwanese phenom has hit Seattle big time.

We attended the Taste of Wallingford this weekend (fun event) and saw the line spiraling out of the french bakery. We decided to wait it out and it was well worth it-the palmier (spelling?) was light and flakey and the pan au chocolat (straight out of the oven) was delish. Vietnamese/French bakery that is outstanding for pastries and cofee.

So great to have a positive house improvement experience. We recommended them to Peter (the other review)and they came strong. If you have furnace issues, call Blue Flame!
