Due to the urging of two friends, I recently signed up for a pre-natal yoga class at Eight Limbs with the famous Anne Phyfe. The class itself is excellent- just strenuous enough with great stretching, learning better breathing is key and awareness of the baby is always emphasized. Anne Phyfe is AMAZING-she sends a ripple of calm through all of her students with her voice and soft touch and excellent instruction. The studios are clean and airy and the overall vibe is just plain sweet.

Though the cooking time seemed a bit excessive, I had one of the most memorable and delish BLT's at Persimmon. They used Niman Ranch bacon (good to feel good about your pork source), delish sour dough bread, fresh tomatoes and some sort of aioli to top if off. It was worth the wait and I suspect other things on their concise menu will be delish too. Recently they extended their hours for dinner- worth stopping by.

Walking into Dunn Lumber is such a relief after wandering the aisles of Home Depot trying to get someone to help! We've turned to Dunn for any/all wood needs and have been happy customers. The staff is experienced, knowledgeable and very service oriented. Don't bother with Lowes/HD- this place is legit and local.

Their pastas are fantastic and rich- beware! The best in the house is Aolio- hazelnuts, olive oil, and who knows what make this dish unforgettable! We didn't quite know what to expect b/c typically our expectations are low for most restaurants on Broadway St. This place delighted us with its delish margaritas, bargain carafe of sangria, delish guacamole (very generous portion with the taquitos), and the pork dish left my husband speechless. Give it a shot and disfruten! The new address is 611 Broadway!

I'm always torn about tapas and "small plates"- will I get to eat enough? Will it be too expensive and I won't really have tried much of anything? I went to Pair for the first time last night with 3 friends (all foodies) and we did just fine. The restaurant-while oft compared to Lark- has a really inviting setting (soft lighting, benches at many tables, shared tables) and is tucked away in Ravenna. The menu offers so many great choices that we almost wished we had come in a bigger group so we could have ordered more. Highlights: cambazola fondue (with apples, pears and bread for dipping), pork tenderloin braised in balsamic/date/olive reduction served on toasts, brisket with horseradish sauce (this was terrific), spinach with carmelized shallots and garlic and oh yes- the fontina dressed mac and cheese with bread crumbs. Quite nice and the portions worked out just fine. At $30 a piece with a beverage, we felt happy, full and excited to come back and try more.

These thin crust wood oven fired pizzas are delish. The basic Regina Margherita is simple and light- tomatoes and basil. There are more complex pizza with pancetta- the Pancetta e Pomodoro with pancetta and marinated mushrooms, and a yellow tomato sauce that is yum. The salads are large and fresh and the dressings are home made and yummy too. Don't forget gelato at the end. Wander down to Columbia City for this italian treat!
