Benziger Family Winery is a wonderful winery to go to for a tour or just a wine tasting if you’re not so adventurous. We went in the heat of August and it was burning outside!!! They gave a tour of their “cave” where the wine is stored at a precise 52 degrees. We got to see outdoors where the wine is pressed, fermented, and such. Then the fun part came – all adults who purchased wine tour tickets got a free 4 glass wine sampling. Actually, they let us have probably about 6-7. They were patient and so helpful, it was the best winery I’ve been to!

The Candlestick is definitely a great place to go for unique candles! They have a large selection of multi colored dipped candles, as well as some neat rolled beeswax candles. But they really have tons of pillar candles – from 3 inches to probably 12 or more inches. Neat ones too, like the coffee colored one (layers of dark brown, light brown/tan, and off-white) with coffee beans glued to the side! Really makes for a great decoration. The only sadness was these candles mostly aren’t scented.

Ledson’s Vineyard is truly an exquisitely nice place. The house on premises had lofty ceilings, hardwood floors and walls, and elegant chandeliers. After you tour the winery you can go into the bar for a wine tasting, or you can go into the little shop and buy stuff for a picnic… wonderful cheeses, crackers, fresh breads, unique sodas, and of course wines, are all for sale. Outside are picnic tables and a kind of courtyard with a lovely fountain full of clear, blue water.

Adobe Net Café is a terrific place to go get a coffee or cappuccino along with a pastry, to grab a sandwich, or to use an internet connection. We went in there specifically for the internet connection, which was fast and wireless! We got coffee because we like it, and a sandwich because we were hungry. They told us if you were coming in to just use the connection, it was $5 flat. But if you were a customer, i.e. buying something, it was free! And then we bit into the sandwich and it was juicy, flavorful roast beef that rocked! We visited many times and it had great atmosphere, really nice people, and yummy food!

Alan Dalton photography is a good place to get photographs done, but it’s not stellar or spectacular. He does a good job. I got individual pictures done and they definitely were pricey, but a bit disappointing. He did a good job setting up the lighting and atmosphere, but the pictures came out not as good as expected. The face-lighting for all the pictures was a little harsh, but ok. Look and see if you like what he does. Nothing special, but good quality.

Park your car and walk up to the music post and the bars over the windows/doors will have you wondering how safe it is. We went inside for some simple things (violin strings) and were shocked at their awful selection. About the only thing someone who’s not a guitarist/drummer could get there would be a turning fork…

We used Sam Gray to do family pictures of our family of 10. We did two shots of everything (casual and dressy) – which means the family picture, individual shots for all 8 kids, husband/wife shots, and all kids together shots. Meaning he probably took a hundred pictures easily. His studio and outside area are just beautiful – landscaping that’s breathtaking to use in all his outdoor photography. Sam is a mild-mannered, humorous and Christian man that is jut wonderful to work with. His daughter handles the admin stuff and she was so sweet too. He is very expensive, but once you see his work it is unparalled to almost anyone I’ve seen, so it is well, well worth it!!! Not enough good things I can say!!! Except, don’t buy your frames from him – he’s ricdiciulously expensive. Go to Fram Warehouse and get a terrific job at ¼ the cost!

We had a 1907 French violin restored at Artley’s. It hadn’t been played in about 60-70 years and it had been stored in an old, cracked, leather-type case. They did outstanding work on it and couldn’t have done better, replacing all things necessary and turning it into a beautiful instrument that plays incredibly. They were very reasonably priced. However, dealing with Fred is difficult. I purchased a bow there and as it was just re-haired, I wanted only a certain kind of rosin on it. Fred threw a fit about opening a new rosin just for this. He gives the impression that he’s got $$ in his eyes, it always coming down to that. But if you can ignore that, Artley’s has good quality at a fair price.

I have used John Montgomery to repair my violin as well as to purchase a bow from and try out violins from. He was very kind and they helped me out to trying out anything I wanted. They have a nice sized practice room with closed doors for trying out bows/violins. Their work was quality and didn’t take too long (2-3 weeks). They didn’t seem to have a very good trade-in policy, that’s why I didn’t use them for that. But otherwise, good work.

I bought my wedding dress at Bridal Mart, and if you’re saving money but want something lovely, this is a great place. Don’t expect royal treatment. There’s a communal dressing room without any cover and then just a huge mirror outside it for everyone to use and look at themselves in. Their people are very helpful and if I hadn’t listened to the lady helping us, I would have left without having seen/tried on my lovely wedding dress!!! The amount of stuff is a bit overwhelming, and the disorderliness is, but you get such great deals that if you have time it’s extremely worth it. The dress was quality and the only mistake was in shipping, which I think was FedEx’s fault. I’d recommend this to anyone.
