Neelam's is good and it's cheap. Need I say more? The decor can be measured in negative numbers but the people are nice and it's the best chicken tikka masala i've had in Seattle.

You need a close-to-seattle-but-far-enough get-away? The Inn at Langley is meant to be a great choice. I've only had dinner there myself, but I've heard enough people give it props that I'm convinced that it's a fun place to stay too. That's where I'd head to save my sanity if I wanted an escape-the-kids overnight.

This place is a find. The first time we went to this tiny but fun spot in the Madison Valley we looked at each other and said - this food is incredible (the space is also cool with an open kitchen and plenty of cooks with sass). Turns out Zagats gives it a 28 for food. So that means serious food. It isn't the cheesy kind of unauthentic tapas with the watered down sangria and too much garlic. The tapas include lots of seafood (if you like octopus - you'll love theirs) and are from northern spain (not the better known food from analucia). long story short - it's great. go.

When was the last time you went to a zoo? If it wasn't recent - you're in for a happy surprise. The Woodland Park Zoo is world-class and their Northern Trails Exhibit (with the Grizzlies) is extremely cool and, as they say in the zoo world, "naturalistic". Any 10 year old will love it (I recommend the otters) and adults will enjoy it too. And if you live in Seattle you must check out ZooTunes. The outdoor concerts are a summer highlight.

Bagel Oasis has the only really good bagels I've come across in Seattle. Noah's? Please - they're just inflated bread rolls. Oasis bagels are boiled, are a reasonable size (not huge) and have that nice brown crust on the outside. The only downer is that they're physical space is dark and kind of dingy. But who cares? Take your bagels home. I drive across town to get them and they're worth it.

H&I is a family-owned auto-body business near Seattle U. They fixed the dent in my car and did a bang-up job. I hate hassles, and getting the estimate was easy, they did an excellent job, my car was ready on-time, they were super nice and the final bill was exactly the same as the estimate. I'd go back to them anytime.

I found Rochelle 2 months before my wedding by asking a stranger with a cute short haircut, "who cuts your hair?" I've been going to Rochelle ever since. Best, most consistent haircuts of my life. My highest accolade is that now, strangers stop ME in the street to ask who cuts my hair. The answer: run, don't walk, to Rochelle at Salon Joseph. P.S. if you don't live on Queen Anne, go anyway. It's worth the trip.
