Going to Tower Records has been very memorable to me over the years. It used to be much harder to get to, and only in the cooler parts of town. Then it was more accessible, but only the cool people worked there. Then they opened some Tower Outlets and I found some great deals. Now they have finally declared bankruptcy and I'm sad. Of course I haven't gone CD shopping much lately, but I will miss it when it's gone. Right now they have 40-60% off the stock that they have left. There are some deals to be had, but much of the full price stuff is 18.99 to start with, so even 60% off it's not cheaper than other places. Maybe you could go back just for one more chance.

Tanforan was recently remodeled. It began as a pretty low-rent mall in a very good location. I used to enjoy bringing my kids over to play on the life size train that ran around the mall. Then they added the Target that was really large and good. The food court was okay, and there were no good stores. They just remodeled and it is even less appealing to me. The mall is just much more crowded. They added a BJs restaurant and Barnes and Noble, but I can get those closer to home. They supposedly have a kids play area, but I didn't find it when I was there the first and only time I went after the remodel. Also the Target parking lot is really scary - it seems so low, like your car is going to scrape the ceiling. I don't have much reason to go back.

I randomly tried this place was able to get in without an appointment. They have a great location on 4th street downtown. They don't have the best manicures/pedicures but they're better than I could do at home, and the service is great. I had Michelle do my pedicure and she did a great job. They are very inexpensive ($10 manicure and $20 pedicure) and have a card where you pay for 8 manicures or 8 pedicures and you get the 9th one for free! I will definitely be back.

This is predominantly a slice pizza store all over the Bay Area. According to their website, they merged with Pizza A Go Go, which I really liked, so it's too bad, around 12 years ago. Anyway, it's really thin crust pizza, if you like that kind. The sauce is good. At this location I got "ma'amed" (not a good thing!) and they got our pizza after other people's and took forever to take our order even though we were second in line. I only ordered pepperoni pizza because it had just come out of the oven, but they put it back in (it was overcooked to begin with) to "heat it up" when I ordered it. Talk about auto pilot. It was okay pizza, but I won't rush to go back.

We went here for my thirtieth birthday a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The service is superb and the food is amazing. I'd love to go back and enjoy it again. At the end of the meal they present you with a small box full of their homemade chocolates. It was such a nice experience, I wish I had stayed at the Inn too.

We went to The French Laundry a couple of years ago. It was a friend's birthday and his wife wanted to take him somewhere special. She organized a group of 6 of us and was able to get a reservation for lunch relatively easily. We had our own room, and a special menu. Since I hate seafood, I asked for a seafood-free menu and was offered different food than my friends often (better food, I think, at least a more interesting presentation). The service is amazing and it is a really nice experience. I wouldn't go often or anything, but it's a really nice experience to try.

Okay, I'm biased because the owner is my parents' neighbor, but Gold Castle Jewelers has a great selection of products and I have been pleased with the customer service. My mother bought me a necklace here and I decided I wouldn't wear it, so they were very accomodating in allowing me to exchange it for something I would wear. I have used them for other purchases as well and have always had a good experience.

My husband has gone to this store twice now. Once to buy my engagement ring and once to buy me some earrings. I guess he likes it, but my experience hasn't been great. I got a Steve Kay engagement ring, which I assume is sent to them from Steve Kay, and they add the center stone. It looked great in the beginning, but after awhile the side stone started to look cloudy. I took it in to Topper, who cleaned under it and said it looked fine to them. They basically said it looked cloudy because it needed to be cleaned and I was using products or something that got stuck under it. First of all, I don't use lotions that might get stuck, and secondly the other side stone looked fine. I'm sure it's that they don't want to have to deal with it, but pretty much every time I look at my ring I get depressed because one side looks not as nice as the other. So they may have good selection, but I wasn't impressed with their customer service and the end product.

I've been going to JoAnn for a long time and they have slowly increased their selection. They still have fabrics but have added craft supplies and party supplies. They have a better knitting needle selection than Michael's and are cheaper in their normal price for yarn. They used to have a great bead selection, but Michael's upgraded their store, so now it's not the best, but still pretty good. If you sign up on their website you can get 40% off coupons mailed to you.

This place has a pretty good selection for a dollar store. The quality is still not great, but they do have some okay options. We bought some fun halloween toys for the kids and some invitations for a party. They do have some coloring books and fun things for the kids that are cheap. This is the best dollar store in San Mateo County.
