They are right by Guilford College and Friendly so it is in a perfect location.

I was walking downtown one day and just happened upon what I thought was a tiny little antique store. I walked in and a very friendly older woman was working. She happened to be the owner and just happened to be very funny and warm. My husband and I looked around and I found some amazing vintage jewelry. Then we noticed a door in the back....it opened into a complete antique mall! A mall, I say. It was a hive of little rooms and big rooms, all filled with antiques from every generation. It was overstimulating actually, but in a good way. I love to drop in when it is cool outside and the leaves are turning. I can be sure to always find something fun.

The Koury Corporation is a huge company that owns much land, Grandover entirely, and used to own the mall. The mall was recently sold, but they held onto the Convention center right beside it. If you are having a meeting, an event, a conference then you want to rent the Koury Convention center. We have attended many functions there and it is always perfect. The food is good, the rooms are clean and professional, and the staff is very helpful. The rates are reasonable as well. Try Koury for your group.

The Marshall gallery has moved around a little bit, but the art remains the same. The gallery has some of the best local artists presenting their unique and thought provoking art. At one time I had a very good friend that was an artist in residence, and I would visit quite often. Not too long ago they moved from Market street to Eugene and I think the new location is really working for them. WIth the big boom in downtown, I think the local art market is going to pick up and the Marshall Gallery is the best to buy from. Take it from me, I have an art degree.

When I need my car inspected or something done to my truck, I drive it or sometimes push it to Cummings. That is one of the benefits of living nearby, that I can push it in. I had a flat tire and had to push the car the rest of the way and they fixed it right up. I needed my car inspected in a hurry and they got the job done. The only problem I had with them was the staff smoking right in your face when you are coming in to fill out paperwork...I really cannot abide that in and establishment.

My husband is getting his 1974 Super Beetle VW bug fixed at Foreign Accents right now! He had to have it towed in and they have had it for over a week and a half now. All of the people that work there have been extremely helpful and friendly. The prices are fairly reasonable and we would definitely get another car fixed there. The location is right on Market street so ot was easy to get to. The website was very informative and actually pretty well done. If you have a foreign car, take it here!

If you are downtown and want to eat somewhere a little trendy, stop into Ganache. Their bakery is amazing and will have you drooling as you are taken to your table. You can even purchase huge cookie boxes and give them as gifts (this has saved me many times in the gift department). The rooftop is by far the best seating, so the best time to go is in the spring or in the late summer/early fall when the weather is the best. Sit on the rooftop, eat a delicious lunch for around $10 and enjoy one of their toffee cookies for dessert. There is always art on the walls and the wait staff is heavenly!

We rented the Corner Bar out last February and we had a blast! Around 6 of our friends were having birthdays in the same month, so we all threw in a little money and rented the place. For a couple hundred bucks, we had the place to ourselves for four hours and a free keg thrown in. We had at least 50 or so people show up and I can vouch for the fact that more than a few people stumbled home. We live right by the bar, so it was a short walk home. My hubby definitely enjoyed his birthday and will never forget it.

I have been to the Blind Tiger only a few times, but I have always had fun. The only problem was the huge crowd and how hard it was to get a drink at the bar. Other than the crowd, the live music was wonderful and the back patio was nice for fresh air. A band called Walrus played and I loved all the cover songs. The prices were good and the crowd was fun. The door man was a little uptight and the bartenders were not very nice, but other than that we had a lot of fun.

Chakra's is the trendiest salon that we have in town. You can tell where it is just by driving by, because the decor really stands out and looks very unique. Chakra's could be picked up and put down in the heart of LA and fit right in. The staff all look good and have very nice hair (which is a good sign) and the store is more like a day spa than just a hair salon. The atmosphere is very zen and the decoration of the inside and outside of the building make you want to come back. It is an experience!
