If you are looking for a special place to stay, try Apple Farm. Their rooms are beautiful, and there are a range of prices for rooms, from more inexpensive (but still nice) to pricier and more luxurious. If you really want a treat, get a room above the mill house. The gift shop is a fun place to browse and there is a restaurant on the premises that serves delicious food (featuring apple desserts).

I found Teacher's Child Care to be a clean, well-run day care with caring staff. I especially thought the care for children under two years was especially good. The babies/toddlers had a nice big room to play in with and very good care. The staff was very accomadating about offering part time child care (and only charging for the days we were there). I would've liked to see more of a variety of activites for the older children to do (2+).

The Old Cannery is huge! They have so many choices, whether you are looking for a bedroom set, a dining room set, living room furniture, etc. Don't miss visiting the dent and ding section at the very back of the store, where you can find some great furniture at even great prices. We love the furniture we have bought at The Old Cannery. Bring your stroller if you have kids, and be prepared to have them mesmerized by the elaborate train layout that snakes through the rooms above the furniture.

If you can afford it, a ride on the Spirit of WA Dinner Train is a romantic, unforgettable experience. Starting in Renton, you travel by train up to the Columbia Winery, enjoying the views out the window as you eat a delicious lunch (you have the choice of several entrรฉes when you book your trip). After a visit at the Columbia Winery (make sure to try tasting some of their wines) you travel back to Renton as you eat an amazing desert. It is a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience!

I like the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium because you can see everything you want to see in a couple of hours and not feel rushed. It has not been crowded when I have visited. It is located in a beautiful setting. The animal exhibits are limited, but there is enough for an afternoon's worth of fun. The shark tank is a definite must, as are all the water exhibits.

It seems like everyone has heard of the famous flying fish at the Pike Place Market. It is the perfect place to bring out-of-town guests, or to recommend to tourists. Besides the fun of watching the yelling fish-throwers at the famous fish store, there are funky little shops that sell practically everything, great produce and beautiful flower bouquets available. It's one-stop shopping at its best!

The Pacific Science Center is lots of fun for kids of all ages. If you are planning to go more than a few times a year, you should really get a membership. There are changing exhibits as well as the old standbys (the dinosaur room, the hands-on exhibits, the insect room. The Butterfly House is a beautiful room with different kinds of butterflies to look for. It is also fun to see an IMAX movie while you are there. There is even a nice area just for very young children.

The amazing part of the Museum of Glass is their Hot Shop, where you can watch experts create glass objects and get a step-by-step commentary from an instructor. Whether or not you'll like this museum depends on how interested you are in glass blowing. They have a small exhibit area with changing exhibits. It was interesting to visit once, but I'm not sure I'd go again. I'd rather save my $10 and visit the Bridge of Glass or Union Station and see some free art.
