If you live close enough, the Portland Children's Museum is definately worth buying their yearly pass. We found enough to do here to keep us busy all afternoon. The kids especially enjoyed the puppet show, water play and clay areas, as well as the pretend supermarket where kids can push a shopping cart around and go "shopping" for pretend food.

Residents at Canterbury Woods receive quality care, from the served meals in the common dining room to the 24-hour help in the medical care and assisted living units. The caregivers are kind, professional people who go above and beyond what they are paid to do. I also like Canterbury because the people who live there are active and involved through activites at Canterbury, in their local community, and with their individual hobbies and interests.

If you are on vacation in Seaside or Cannon Beach, the Cannon Beach Spa is a fun place to go to pamper yourself. They offer the usual spa services (facial scrubs, massages, pedicures, manicures, etc.) Everyone who works there is friendly and they work hard to make your time at the spa a relaxing experience from the moment you step in their front door. I have been very happy with the massages and pedicures I have gotten there.

I always felt like I got a good, thorough eye exam when I saw Dr. Bosland or Dr. Barry. There is adequate parking, the staff is professional, and I never had to wait too long. The prices for services seemed high. I had to pay for extras such as contact cleaning not covered by my health insurance. There's a large selection of frames in their shop next door to the waiting room, but the wait there can be long.

I have stayed at Bide A Wee many times and have always been pleased with the experience. They are very accomodating to special requests (providing a crib, moving furniture, etc.) They also are good about changing reservations (as long as you give them 72 hours notice). Most of the rooms are standard motel rooms; they also offer some larger one bedrooms with kitchens. It is a three block walk to the beach and the boardwalk trails.

Bellevue Square is a place I go to look but not to buy, because the prices are too expensive for me. It is quite an upscale mall. There are lots of nice stores and they keep expanding, most recently adding more restaurants such as P.F. Changs and Cheesecake Factory. Auburn Regional is a great place to have a baby! Their new Maternity Ward is spacious, with comfortable, private rooms. Once you check in, you stay in the same room for your whole labor, delivery, and recovery. The nursing staff is very kind and helpful. They gave me lots of privacy, but also made sure they got me anything I needed.

In my opinion, the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA is the absolute best aquarium. The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific comes in a close second. It's a bit pricey ($19 plus parking) but the aquarium is quite big, with lots to see and hands-on opportunities as well. Kids will love the shark exhibits, and check out the jellyfish and sea horse exhibits as well. Plan to spend a good amount of time here to see everything.
