I enjoy shopping at the Scrapbook Nook in Kent because they pack a lot of good scrapbooking supplies (especially stickers) into a small space. Recently, however, I went in to use their die cuts. Their policy is that you can't use the die cuts with a child, and you can't have a child in their play area while you use the die cuts. This drastically cuts down on the times I can go in to use their die cut (and hence my shopping there).

Schooners Cove is located with the ocean out your sliding glass door to one side and with the beautiful town of Cannon Beach out the door on the other side. So it is within strolling distance of most of the shops, art galleries, and restaurants in town, as well as beach walks. Downstairs rooms have a small patio, then there is a grassy strip with picnic tables, bbq equipment, and lounge chairs. Right below that is the beach. Rooms have a gorgeous view of the beach and ocean (however, there is no view of Haystack Rock because of the curve of the beach). Each room has a gas fireplace. The rooms are cozy, but have microwaves and small fridges. You can rent DVDs from the office, you can also book a half hour time in the hot tub upstairs. It is expensive to stay there, but I think it is worth it!

Powells has room after room of books. They shelve their new books right next to their used books, so you can usually find several options, depending on the price and quality you are looking for. They have computers in all the rooms so you can find if they have a certain book (most likely they do) and exactly where it is located. You can bring in used books to sell back for cash or store credit (they can be picky about what they will buy). Powells is a treat I enjoy every time I am in Portland.

If you are looking for good basic accomodations in San Luis, try the Peach Tree Inn. They are not fancy, but the rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable and there is a good continental breakfast available. I have always been happy with my stays at Peach Tree!

Month of Meals is not the cheapest option out there, but their food is some of the best I've tasted for this kind of company. They also try to offer low-fat options.

I personally believe that the Monterey Bay Aquarium is the best out there. Every time we visit Monterey it is a must-see for us. It gets crowded because it is so popular, so try to get there as close to opening as possible. It is expensive to get in (and the food inside is pricey) but it is definately worth the price. They are constantly upgrading and adding new exhibits; the tanks they have are amazing (both the size of the tanks and the animals inside them). Don't miss it if you are in the area!

Everyone at Moffat Minnick was very professional and helpful. When we took our cats there, they got thorough checkups and good care. The prices seemed a little high to me. The waiting room was very comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the "office cats" roaming around. They have a good central location.

Mighty Maids did a one-time deep cleaning of our house. They were very accomodating and flexible about what I wanted done. This service sends two cleaners to your house so the overall time they are cleaning at your house is less. The cleaners who came to my house did a great job and worked really hard (and they did A LOT of scrubbing). I will definately use them again.
