View Ridge Park boasts large grassy areas with sun or shade from which to choose, a seasonal wading pool, and a large playground with climbing equipment, slides and swings. One of the great things about this park is that the wading pool is shaded and there are plenty of places to lay out your blanket on the grass and hang out. Doesn't get too crowded either.

Her creations are absolutely gorgeous, with every flower looking absolutely fresh and perfect. You won't see any wilting or browning here. Sharon and her husband are also the type who will happily expend the extra effort to make your even extra special. I cannot recommend her highly enough! The store focuses on bedroom furniture for babies and tots. It does manage to stuff quite a bit of merchandise on its sales floor, including a large selection of Dutalier rockers. Prices are on the higher end. Although it is a owner-run store, I thought the service was pretty lousy. You could walk into an empty store and not be greeted by anyone. You could browse around for hours without anyone asking if you needed help. Overall, I would not do business here.

You wouldn't expect a place like Jone's BBQ to be located in a food court (Jone's also has some stand-alone restaurant locations in Seattle), but there it is, on the East side of the Crossroads Mall Food Court. Offering BBQ classics like chicken, beef brisket, pork, cornbread and sweet potato pie, this is the real deal. Jone's sauce can be ordered mild or hot. It has a slightly sweet taste that complements the meats well. I particularly like the beef brisket sandwich.

But don't let the location fool you, this is a full-size restaurant offering delicious food, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere. The restuarant is very kid-friendly, but it does not feel like a "kid's place." That is, it is a nice atmosphere for those on dates or other quieter pursuits. The dining room boasts a fire place and comfortable booth seating (as well as some tables). Chips, salsa and a jug of water are delivered to each table. Servers are attentive. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.

Children's Hospital Thrift Store is located in Northern section of the Westminister Way shopping plaza in Shoreline (the plaza that houses Sears, Marshalls, Paper Zone, etc.). A modest size store run by volunteers, the shop is much pickier about what it sells than thrifts like Goodwill or Value Village. You'll mostly find items in very good condition, but often with correspondingly slightly higher prices. They usually have a larger selection of furniture.

Unfortunately, you may be disappointed with the food. It tends to be quite bland. Overall, I recommend skipping on the Black Pearl and searching elsewhere for a restaurant gem.

Shoreline Historical Museum is located in an old elementary school. Low-key and volunteer-run, it has some interesting exhibits for those with an interest in the history of the Shoreline area. Those who are not keen on history museums probably won't be swayed by this one. There is a hands-on children's exhibit with old-fashioned games. Admission is by donation. Overall, you can learn a lot about the Shoreline area here, just keep in mind before going that you will be visiting a small, community museum.

Paramount Park includes a variety of amenities. Large grassy areas for hanging out border an actively used baseball field. A walking path circles the entire park - great for kids learning how to ride their bikes. The park also sports a playground aimed at younger kids (but lacking swings), a restroom, a picnic shelter with BBQ and, one of the biggest draws, a skate boarding park.

Thai Go is located in the food court at Northgate Mall. It offers some usual food court fare in the form of heat lamped Thai food. However, you can also order freshly made food here - everything from soups to curries to Phad Thai - and this is where you leave the normal food court culinary experience. This is real restaurant food (although sometimes a bit heavy on the fish sauce), made to order with your choice of meat or tofu, and served piping hot. What a find!
