Magic Mountain is the best THRILL park in southern california. Now, if you're talking about a theme park, you have to go disneyland. Better for the kids. A little more magical. But if you want serious roller coasters, there is not alternative to magic mountain. cons: The lines suck in the summer. and in the winter they shut down a bunch of rides. And it's not as good as cedar point.

If you want to be American, then you have to enjoy a day at the ol' ballpark. That's a rule. So you go to dodger stadium, you get yourself some delicious dodger dogs, hey, maybe some delicious chicken fingers with ranch too, and you watch a little baseball. And if you want to be LA, get there after the 4th inning and leave just before the 7th inning stretch.

The staples center has got to be one of the most swankified places in the country to catch a hoops game. The boxes are the bomb, they bring you booze, and they have these nice leather chairs, and a little living room area where you can watch the game on tv. But why go all the way to the staples center and pay sick loot just so you can watch the game on the tv? Just to be that guy, I guess. And if you really want to be LA about it, get there just before halftime and leave after the 3rd quarter.

Holy cow I couldn't believe all the crazy stuff this place had when I went there! Believe it or not is a good name for this museum. But for most of the things I saw, I would say "Not". Still worth the loot - not too pricey - and fun for kids of all ages!

I'm pretty new to yoga, and this center takes that into account. They have introduced me gradually to the world of yoga, and I feel like I get more out of it with each session. The classes are affordable (especially compared to the fancy west LA yoga studios), but they still have very knowledgeable instructors.

pan pacific is a great park on beverly, right next to the grove. they have fields, so you can get together a game of ultimate frisbee or football or soccer with friends, and they also have a nice path to jog on. There is a holocaust memorial there that is very moving and powerful.

Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful building, but something about the olive carpets and mirrored walls make it feel very 70's to me. At least the hallways and entrance. Still, the views of downtown from the fourth floor are gorgeous, especially at dusk. The interior of the theater is acoustically phenomenal. I have sat in the last row and not had a problem hearing or seeing. Last, but definitely not least, the LA Opera is a fantastic company. Great performers, great repertoire, not afraid to be daring, can't say enough!

I saw wicked here and it was the best musical I've ever seen. Not my favorite musical ever, but the best I've ever seen live. This is a gorgeous old theater in the heart of hollywood, and even though I was in the cheap seats because I'm a poor schlub I still could see and hear everything perfectly. Go see a show at the pantages, and also go see wicked. If you can kill 2 birds with one stone? Even better!

Although the grove has spoiled me with stadium seating, the beverly cinema is a real gem of west LA. They have great films, regularly do themed double features, and tickets are about half the price of the grove (which means they're $10). It's primarily the old theater atmosphere and the great movie selection of the beverly cinema that makes it such a find. Good popcorn too.

if you ever want to get a friend a nice bottle of something for their birthday, anniversary, bar mitzvah, or other, check out this unique little boutique party store on melrose. Carlos and Steve, the co-proprietors of this fashionable little shop, will take good care of you. If they have deals going on certain beers, and you're about to stupidly buy the more expensive one, they'll tell you. Although that might be just me, because I'm there like every day.
