I went to 612 trying to decide what wireless plan I wanted (because my plan was up) and I wanted to see what was out there. Lucky for me, this store is authorized to sell service for two mobile companies - Nextel/Sprint and T-Mobile. They had a good selection of phones, and the salesperson, Tracey, was friendly and was able to answer my questions. I did have one question about texting that she couldn't answer, so she called the company to find out. Overall, she made the entire experience enjoyable and helped me to decide which plan best suited my needs.

I went with some friends to Pepito's for margaritas - our little cocktail hour soon turned into some major noshing. Someone ordered the chips and queso and all bets were off. They were just so good, we had to have more. Then someone suggested dinner and before we knew it were sitting there blissfully full. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, someone ordered the fried ice cream. Oh my! Words fail me when I try to describe just how good it was. I've been to a few other places and ordered their fried ice cream to try to recapture that moment, only to be severely disappointed. So, from here on out I solemnly pledge to do right by my taste buds and only get my fried ice cream from Pepito's!

OK - I admit I've been lax with my nail care lately because I've been working a lot. So when a friend told me about a new nail salon, I decided it was time to pamper myself and check it out. Oddly enough, that's the name of the salon - Pamper Me Nails. I got a manicure and pedicure and had a relaxing time getting both. I sat in a comfy massage chair while Tanya went to work on my tired, neglected tootsies. When she massaged my legs and hands, I could feel some of my stress melting away. Two hours later I left with beautiful, manicured hands and toes and smile on my face. I took a few of her cards and am going to tell my friends about it.

I go to this office once a week to get allergy shots and the staff is great. They are always friendly and genuinely concerned about my health. I once had an allergy attack that I mentioned in passing and the nurse went and talked to the doctor and got me eye drops to help with my itchy eyes. I also got a flu shot there. Dr. Bransford, my physician, is also a good doctor - he is attentive and doesn't make me feel rushed, and is good about having someone get back to me if I have a question.

O'Donovan's is a good place to kick back and have a few pints after a busy day. This pub has good, hearty food and everyone is very down to earth there. The bartenders are funny and everyone seems more like family than coworkers. They also have karaoke on Sunday nights, which can be fun - especially when you've had a few pints of liquid courage to help make you sound as good as you do in your shower. Best all of everyone claps when you're done because it takes a lot of gumption to get up there and belt out a (off-key) Neil Diamond song.

I'm on my feet a lot, so it's important that I have comfortable shoes. I also want my shoes to last for a long time so I take them to George's to have non-slip soles added, or to have them make repairs and help keep my shoes looking new. They also sell a variety of products that you can use at home to keep your shoes looking good, as well as Ugg boots. I take all of my shoes there and am sometimes surprised at how they can take shoes that I had written off as beyond repair and made them look good again. The business is family-owned and they always make you feel welcome. So before you toss your favorite shoes because you think they're too old, take them to George's and see if he can fix them for you.

Getting your hair down at this salon is uptown will definitely have people talking about how wonderful you look. Stylist and owner, Micheal Cole is amazing when it comes to creating a bouncy, shiny hairstyle and his haircutting skills are downright magical. He also does relaxers and hair coloring. No matter which service you get from him, you find yourself walking a little taller when you leave because you know you look good (even if you just happen to be wearing jeans and a tee-shirt.) Whenever I get my hair done by him, I get numerous compliments - and best of all his prices are very reasonable.

I now have a new favorite thing to do on Monday nights - go to Bunker's and listen to some incredible live music. Friends have been telling me about this music hot spot for some time, but I finally went this past Monday. My friend and I paid the five dollar cover and then grabbed a stool at the bar. A quick glance around showed a broad mix of people (think musician types, suburban housewives, bar industry types, college kids, etc.) who were all there to listen to some of the best funk/r&b around. The group was called The Combo and they've been playing this same gig for over ten years - and once they started playing you knew why. They were incredible! People started dancing and by their second set the entire bar was packed (on a Monday night, no less). They covered diverse music from Chaka Khan to David Bowie to originals, and rocked every single tune. I'm sorry I didn't go see them sooner, but there's nothing like making up for lost time.

The Lounge located in the warehouse district is a great place to have cocktails and chill. The decor is warm and trendy, and the people are equally decked out. Definitely pull out that new top or those Manolos that you've been saving for a special occasion. The vibe is very laid back and my friends and I love watching all the different people having a good time. We were there on a Thursday and it was a great way to kick off the weekend.

If you're looking for a classy club with lots of room to dance and maybe see some of your favorite athletes or celebrities, then look no further than Escape. This club boasts numerous flat screens playing videos that go along with some of the best music in the city. They have two VIP areas that are often full with the movers and shakers of the town. They've had some great concerts there recently, including a private fund raiser featuring Lenny Kravitz, and an impromptu concert by Ludacris (who stopped over after performing at the Target Center). This playground for the stars is always on my list of places to go.
