I came here on a first date where we were looking for something that we could do rather then get drunk at a bar or lounge. It was adults night coincidentally and we could not refuse the free wine. Its funny that when you are handed something and told to paint...you totally blank out. The workers are really helpful and try to give you ideas and they are so friendly too. So while we thought about it and drank wine ( the wine was free flowing and we appreciated that) ...we ended up pretty tipsy while we were painting.
It was one of my most enjoyable evenings where you could rediscover your creative side and with a bit of intoxication its pretty relaxing. You laugh and paint and its just good clean fun again...like kids.
Also a real perk is that after anything is glazed it looks great. Even if you made a mistake it somehow comes out looking like you meant to do it...like abstract work for instance.
The best part is that you have something to remember the experience by.

There was a time I thought I just had to have every one of David Lynch's films and some of his older works is really difficult to locate. Kim's video was the only place that I could purchase Eraserhead...I thought that was quite an accomplishment. I also found a copy of a non-dubbed original language of Fellini's Casanova...that was really surprising.
Additionally, the staff is really knowledgeable about movies and yes at times I am the annoying customer who comes in to ask a really generalized stupid question like " uh...do you know that movie where the girl was wearing a dress and was murdered with a knife?"
Surprisingly enough, with enough effort ( from the kind sales people) I always find my movie. Cheers to you Kim!

Sephora can be overwhelming at first but its really a great place to get all your beauty buys. They carry the latest beauty trends featured in Marie Claire or Cosmo, always fully stocked with all colors and actually have salespeople who know a thing or two about skincare.
The salespeople also are not pushy, unlike department cosmetic counters who jump at the first sight of you sniffing a bottle. The fragrance selection is immense and I believe it takes up an entire wall. The makeup brushes were surprisingly high quality ( the sephora brand brushes) and comparable to my Trish McEvoy brushes. My fave section is the skin care section where the sales people actually evaluate your skin and suggest products that may help any problems you are having and will offer you samples.
Also I have to add, Sephora has monthly events where you can reserve a spot to get a free facial or meet the makers of the products and save money during the event by being reimbursed for the registration fee towards product purchases. Most events are free but registration fees are for the more popular products such as Dr. Brandt.
Now I try before I buy and I don't bother with any other cosmetic stores.

Its been there for a long time and I guess its been neglected because the carpeting is the same as it was years before as are the seats.
Its not all that horrible as my description may seem but its pretty much the last on my list of theaters to relax for a viewing.

My mom used to work the registers at Mazur's so as a child I used to go there on my half days from elementary school and wait for her to get off. As I waited I ate matzo ball soup, knishes, candied apples and dill pickles. It was great. The food is really good and fresh. The prices are decent and the portions are big enough. It was also the place where I first discovered halvah bars and other kosher goodies.
The bakery section is a great section for rainbow cookies and macaroons.
This is a small clean supermarket for kosher goods and offers a surprisingly vast menu in the deli section.

These orchids lasted for weeks...
I was impressed as they were so beautiful.
Other then that it has a selected few of interesting contemporary clothing, furniture and gadgets.
Interior is nicely organized and decorated so it is an experience on its own just to walk around. Japanese department stores are rarely bustling like a Macy's or Bloomies...its much calmer.
It is on the expensive side but if you are shopping for gifts...you can mostly count on not duplicating someone else's gift.

Because $1 for a lemon is insane to me...unless the city really has gotten that expensive and I was just not aware. I agree with the others that the selection is nothing to rave about. I don't shop there often and when I did have to make a run, I did not find what I was looking for. Its convenient because the city has one in each neighborhood and that is its perk but I would rather travel a bit further to get everything that is on my shopping list.
Can I remind you once again...$1 a lemon...

or for a special someone.
I usually visit the one in Grand central station and I am always amused at the clever cards, highly decorated stationary and pretty matching ribbon and wrapping paper. It offers all types of paper: texture and sizes.
It is pricey...but sometimes its worth paying for.
Nicely organized sections and you can usually find something to express what you are trying to say. They also have cute little books and bookmarks that make great quicky gifts when you just didn't have the time.
I usually go there for the vellum and foil wrapping paper.

When you are in the mood for a delicious sloppy saucy hamburger then this is the diner for you. They have an array of hamburger choices to choose from. The portions are hefty and you get your money's worth. The food always seems fresh and service is good.
The decor is retro diner with the stools and booths, clean and sparkling. Don't forget to order that milkshake with that burger.

My interest rate just went up.
Now tell me that other banks offer the same.
Although transactions are online and it take a few days to get the withdrawal check sent to you...its worth it.
I have watched my statements come in each month and the steady growth of the interest I have accumulated surpasses most bank institutions. It is secure and I am a very satisfied customer.
