Some restaurants offer dim sum that is oily and just too heavy for the brunch hours. At least I always thought so. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted the dim sum offered at this newbie restaurant. Located at 37 02 Main St. Flushing NY, 11354 - validated free parking is offered on Prince Street, just make sure you get your ticket stamped after eating.
Personally, good dim sum is the equivalent of breaking open a shrimp dumpling...where one place can offer shrimp mush or it can offer large pieces of shrimp meat. You can also tell the quality of the foods if hours later you find yourself drinking gallons of water due to the overload of MSG. For this restaurant it was not the case - so thumbs up for good food!
The kitchen is open for viewing so you can see that it is clean and the delicious little dishes are freshly being steamed before being served. There is a table set up which offers old style street cart food where a lady will spoon up a dish that's to your liking. As with most Chinese banquet halls the decor is a bit over the top and colorful and brightly lit. The ambiance is bustling and food every angle that you turn.
My family came here one Saturday morning and the wait wasn't too long, maybe about 20 minutes. The food was plentiful and selection was good. Unlike other restaurants where the same carts of food circle round your table, we didn't find a problem keeping the table well stocked.
Great for large parties and good dim sum.

Going to Philly - you got to check out Me and Blue Boutique. This second floor store has a great stash of vintage finds such as hats, jewelry, belts, purses.
It is also a studio where the owners design there own creations which have an avant garde flair. They also carry a bunch of other designers, known and unknowns, but it doesn't matter who its made from because the buyer ensures that the selection is fabulous. Always one of each kind so if you see it and you like it you better grab it. I bought a dress that that I couldn't stop touching and it came home with me and its my favorite garb in my overstuffed closet.
Staff is super friendly and cool to chat with. They have great style and whether they are hip to the trends or choose not to follow - they are still hip as can be in all of Philly.

Philly is a great city but what makes it even better is the wonderful Italian restaurant located in Little Italy. Old world style ambiance, old fashioned family staff and savory Italian dishes. I never knew Italian could taste so good!
My friend and I go there at least a few times a year just for the Veal and Chicken dishes that range $13 -$17 per entrรฉe. Each entrรฉe is accompanied by a side of veggies or pasta so you are guaranteed to get your fill. All the other pasta dishes are very reasonably priced at around $7-$12. The sauce for the veal house special is amazing...it consists of melted mozzarella and butter. Very heavy and very satisfying. If only NYC had a restaurant that compared, you wouldn't be able to secure a reservation. Thinking about it now...I think its about time I go back for another round of good eatings.

I was looking for contractors to do a high end renovation. I interviewed many contractors and were either turned off my their inexperience or their attitude.
Then I was introduced to Presidential Marble and Granite, LLC.
Their level of expertise and professionalism was impressive. They were able to get the exotic granite that was looking for and the slab I acquired was absolutely beautiful. Prices were comparable to bigger companies who do not follow up or take the time to ensure you get what you want. It is invaluable to have good communication with the contractor you are working with. This makes it monetarily a great deal.
Questions were answered, suggestions were given and options were offered. What more can you possibly ask for from a contractor?
I was very comfortable and extremely satisfied during the duration of the work and final results.
Preparation of the work was clean and efficient, same goes for the cleanup after work was completed.
Customer service continues on even after the check is cashed - very rare these days, if you ask me.
I highly recommend this company for all your stone work.
Located at 805 Sherman Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514
Management is cooperative, friendly and reassuring of a job well done.

Located at the corner of 56th street and 8th ave, I stumbled in after a session at SpaJa which is next door. I wanted sushi/sashimi and thats what it said displayed in large letters on the awning. When I looked in the window before I entered and the place looked clean and casual and a good place to grab a quick bite to dine alone. It was busy for the early evening hour so I thought it must be good. Boy was I wrong.
I ordered the Momo Sashimi special for $15. I should have asked what it was before I ordered...What a disappointment!
I assumed the house special would be impressive since its supposed to represent what the restaurant is capable of.
The house special was some unidentifiable white fish that was thinly sliced and pan seared on the edges (basically cooked) accompanied by a slice of avocado with dab of tobiko on each piece. That tobiko couldn't have added up to even a teaspoon and the avocado had black spots on it. The spots were not from searing but from when it is ripened prematurely and almost rotten. The plate was spotted with some type of sweet sauce that was red and brown. Overall, it was not a good meal. In conclusion, it wasn't sashimi.
I ordered a natto roll because the special wasn't filling and that was surprisingly a disappointment as well. Natto is a fermented soybean and has the consistency of okra (sticky). The natto roll arrived where it wasn't sticky but warm as if cooked and the rice was overcooked.
The only part of the meal that was bearable was the hot sake...which is always good. Or at least it makes the food go down a bit easier.
I did notice that the other people who were eating there did not eat sashimi but ate rolls which did look good. So this must be one of those Japanese food places ran by Koreans where the rolls are good for people who don't eat anything more than rolls. You can easily tell because Japanese sushi rice is prepared differently and has a chewier consistency than Korean rice used for rolls.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I don't understand why this store decreased in its popularity over the years. When I first went to college and saw one in the mall, the childhood cravings rushed on in. There is no other smoothie shop that tastes quite like O Julius. Its fresh creamy orange flavor cannot be duplicated and the brain freeze is so worth it.
Now that Jamba Juice has opened in nyc, I guess that would be the closest thing but it still doesn't compare.

When college makes you hurting for cash, it was really nice to have a place that provided a hearty meal that was good quality. A little hipster dugout on Lark Street this was a place vegetarian friends loved and frequented often. The burritos were large and heavily stuffed with fresh ingredients and one can feed you for the equivalent of 2 meals. I could never finish one in a single sitting. The prices are reasonable and its a great place to get a quick bite or take out. The preparation tables are out in the open so no sneaky in the back stuff going on. Check it out - you'll learn the art of sharing.

Corny clothing that is cheaply made and designed. It makes a mockery of goth by categorizing it along with punk and club kid. Back in the days when kids going goth actually made their own clothing and ripped their own fishnets, was much more interesting than mass produced red and black striped arm warmers. The shoes are cheaply made platforms that don't crease well and don't make it past a rain storm without the glue coming undone. The black clothing is usually some cheap polyester blend with an unflattering contrast stitching. This clothing isn't different...its just plain corny.
Although, the newer buyers have sought out Japanese streetwear to influence and inspire their newer lines, each season just looks like a rip of H.Naoto gone wrong...dead wrong. Not a cool dead, an evil dead, or even a spooky kind of dead...just a dead wrong like a dead end hit or miss...Hot Topic missed it by a mile.
Sorry kids...I wish they could have been as creative as they wanted to be.

Sometimes you are just in the mood for something hearty and heavy. Especially in the winter, I find myself in the mood for ribs and mac and cheese. This place offers the usual BBQ of ribs, chicken, mash and mac. Its good but not the greatest. Its sufficient enough for when you have a crave and the portions are large but some thing is lacking. I think it may be the sauce. A good BBQ sauce can cause a cult following. When I first ate here I thought it was great food, but realized there were other places in the city that surpass in flavor. Might I suggest Virgil's in Time Square...now thats BBQ.

I came here for an eye exam because it was a convenient location. I went in with the intention of getting an exam for an updated prescription and then ordering contact lenses.
The doctor gave me a very basic check up. So basic that I felt that it was too short and not thorough enough. I would usually expect the doctor to check my eye health since I was purchasing contact lenses.
The doctor convinced me to buy a generic brand for contacts which she convinced me was the equivalent to Acuvues. I mentioned that I was looking for contacts that are thinner and allow more air through so my eyes could breathe. I had an infection in my left eye before so that particular eye needs the most breathable lense or a constricted blood vessel could migrate into the center of my pupil.
She convinced me that these were better and all the rest was big business marketing.
I bought the contacts and eventually found out these were not the thinner breathable type of lenses but the older technology of contact lenses. I was furious and I went back to the store demanding an exchange. They acted very nice about it and told me they would grant me an even exchange and they would call me in a week when the ordered lenses have arrived.
One week passes - Two week passes.
I went back to the store and the staff told me I had to pay more to get replacement lenses since the ones I bought were generic. So basically they wanted me to bring back my one year supply to exchange for a 6 month supply even though there was a notation on my record that the doctor has approved an even exchange. The didn't have the exchange in stock and I would have had to wait 2 more weeks. I disputed to the manager that I initially came here looking for breathable lenses to only be lied to by the doctor that the generic brands were just as good. They told me they would call me in a week when the exchange was completed. That week and gone and past. Every time I call back...its back to square one and no one has followed up on my dispute.
I do not recommend getting your optical needs here. There are better places with better business ethics.
A doctor who does not practice preventative care is one you should avoid at all costs. I was just disgusted at the way this store is run and how they treat their customers.
Stay Away!
